Job Description

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Control & Protection Engineer Studies, you will support the execution of electrical system studies for global transmission and grid connection projects within Siemens Energy's Grid Technologies Solutions business. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will perform power system simulations, contribute to protection coordination studies, and prepare technical documentation that supports the successful delivery of HVDC, FACTS, and substation projects worldwide. This role offers an excellent opportunity to build expertise in power system analysis while collaborating with global engineering teams.

How You'll Make an Impact

Power System Studies & Simulations (50%)

  • Support electrical network and grid connection studies, including:
    • Load flow analysis
    • Short circuit studies
    • Transient stability assessments
  • Develop and maintain power system models under the guidance of senior study engineers.
  • Assist in preparing and validating study inputs, assumptions, and simulation parameters.
  • Contribute to simulation studies for HVDC, FACTS, and transmission grid projects using industry-standard software tools.

Technical Documentation & Reporting (30%)

  • Prepare technical study reports, calculation notes, and engineering documentation in line with project requirements.
  • Generate simulation outputs, plots, and graphical analysis to support technical conclusions.
  • Maintain accurate records of study assumptions, inputs, and simulation models through version control practices.
  • Support the preparation of documentation for customer submissions and internal design reviews.

Collaboration & Quality Assurance (20%)

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams including Control & Protection, Primary Engineering, System Design, and Project Management.
  • Participate in technical discussions to collect and validate engineering inputs.
  • Support quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with project standards and engineering best practices.
  • Contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives, continuous improvement programs, and technical training activities.

What You Bring

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience


  • 0-2 years of experience in power system analysis, electrical engineering, or grid simulation studies.
  • Internship, academic project, or professional exposure to power systems studies is desirable.

Technical Skills

  • Understanding of power system analysis and network studies.
  • Exposure to simulation software such as:
    • PSCAD
    • PSS®E
    • DIgSILENT PowerFactory
  • Knowledge of:
    • Load flow studies
    • Short circuit analysis
    • Transient stability analysis
    • Electrical network modelling
  • Basic understanding of transmission grid codes and industry standards.
  • Foundational knowledge of Control & Protection systems for substations, HVDC, or FACTS applications.
  • Understanding of power system dynamics and control principles.
  • Exposure to dynamic AC network reduction concepts is an advantage.

  • Technical report writing and engineering documentation skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and simulation results.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional and global teams.
