The Buying & Merchandising Associate will play a vital role in supporting our sampling coordination and vendor management processes. With a focus on textiles and garments, this position involves ensuring timely communication and documentation, ultimately contributing to efficient product development and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain sampling trackers and production timelines to ensure deadlines are met.
- Assist with cost sheets, Bill of Materials (BOM) documentation, and vendor quotations to support financial accuracy.
- Follow up regularly with embroidery units, textile vendors, and garment manufacturers for seamless operations.
- Support inventory tracking of fabrics and trims used for sampling for optimum stock management.
- Help build and update vendor databases and conduct costing comparisons to enhance procurement strategies.
Requirements:
- 24 years of experience in buying, merchandising, or a related field within the fashion/textile industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with inventory management software.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with vendors and internal teams.
- A basic understanding of textile and garment production processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working directly with vendors and manufacturers in a sampling environment.
- Familiarity with costing methodologies and pricing strategies specific to textiles.
- Ability to analyze cost data and make informed purchasing recommendations.
- Knowledge of sustainable sourcing practices and ethical fashion principles.
