Role Overview

URVA Consulting is hiring a Buyer / Procurement Executive on behalf of its client, an Indian-managed commodity trading company operating across Africa.

The role involves sourcing, procurement, and supplier management for commodities such as Sesame, Natural Rubber, Gum Arabic, and other agricultural or industrial raw materials from suppliers, traders, aggregators, and local markets across Cameroon and Chad.

The selected candidate will be responsible for developing sourcing networks, negotiating procurement contracts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely procurement and delivery of commodities.

French language proficiency is mandatory due to extensive interaction with local suppliers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Commodity Procurement & Sourcing

• Source and procure commodities such as Sesame, Natural Rubber, Gum Arabic, and related products
• Develop sourcing networks across Cameroon and Chad
• Build relationships with traders, aggregators, processors, and suppliers
• Negotiate prices and commercial terms
• Ensure procurement targets are achieved as per business requirements

Supplier & Market Management

• Identify and onboard new suppliers
• Conduct supplier visits and market assessments
• Monitor supplier performance and product quality
• Maintain long-term supplier relationships

Market Intelligence

• Track commodity prices and market trends
• Monitor competitor activities and supply availability
• Provide procurement insights and sourcing reports to management

Operational Coordination

• Coordinate with logistics, warehouse, and operations teams
• Ensure timely dispatch and delivery of procured commodities
• Maintain procurement records and documentation

Mandatory Requirements

• 5–12 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or commodity buying
• Experience in commodities such as Rubber, Gum Arabic, Sesame, Cashew, Shea, or related products
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
• Experience working with traders, aggregators, and procurement networks
• French language proficiency (spoken) is mandatory
• Willingness to relocate to Cameroon or Chad

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Experience with commodity trading companies, exporters, or procurement organizations
• Strong understanding of commodity supply chains
• Comfortable with field-based sourcing activities
• Self-driven and capable of working independently
• Experience working in African markets is an advantage
