Business Operations Manager

The operation you would run
An environmental-services firm delivering water and waste-management projects across two states has engaged Flexiple to hire a Business Operations Manager for its project-delivery arm. The firm has grown past the point where its founders can track every project personally, and this role exists to build the planning, reporting, and coordination layer that a growing project business needs but has not yet built.
The two halves of the job
Delivery oversight
- Track every live project against its timeline, budget, and resourcing plan
- Coordinate between site teams, procurement, and the leadership office
- Flag slippage early and drive the fixes rather than just reporting them
- Own the weekly and monthly business review leadership relies on
Systems the business doesn't have yet
- Build the reporting and dashboards this business currently runs on spreadsheets and phone calls
- Standardise how projects are scoped, tracked, and closed out
- Support budgeting and resource-planning cycles across projects
What we're checking for
- 5 to 10 years in business operations, project operations, or program management
- Comfort building structure in a business that has grown faster than its systems
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills and a genuinely analytical approach
- Clear written and spoken English for reporting to leadership
Bonus points
- Experience in infrastructure, environmental services, or project-based businesses
- An engineering or MBA background
- Familiarity with project-management or BI tooling
