Job Description

About the Role

Techylla is looking for a highly skilled and analytically driven Business Intelligence Developer to join our team. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain BI dashboards and reports that empower our security and operations leadership to make data-driven decisions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates with clarity and confidence, and can join us immediately or at short notice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop, and publish production-grade Tableau workbooks — including complex multi-source dashboards, story points, and pixel-perfect paginated reports — for security KPI monitoring and executive leadership reviews.
  • Write advanced Tableau calculations: Level of Detail (LOD) expressions (FIXED, INCLUDE, EXCLUDE), Table Calculations (WINDOW_SUM, RUNNING_SUM, RANK, LAST()), and nested calculated fields to solve non-trivial analytical problems.
  • Design and manage Tableau Data Sources — both published (.tds / .tdsx) and embedded — applying Row-Level Security (RLS) via user filters and data source filters to enforce access control across business units.
  • Optimise Tableau workbook and extract performance: identify slow queries using Tableau Performance Recording, reduce data source query volume through extract filters, aggregation, and materialised calculations.
  • Integrate data from heterogeneous sources — relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL), flat files, REST APIs, and cloud data platforms — using Tableau's native connectors, cross-database joins, and data blending where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across HR, Operations, Finance, and Security teams to translate requirements into scalable BI solutions with appropriate chart types, interaction models, and drill-down hierarchies.
  • Perform root-cause data analysis — using Tableau's built-in statistical functions, trend lines, forecasting, and clustering — to surface actionable insights relevant to AI security programmes.
  • Maintain, version-control, and document BI assets; manage Tableau Server / Tableau Cloud site administration including project permissions, schedules, subscriptions, and extract refresh monitoring.
  • Champion self-service BI adoption by building reusable data sources, template workbooks, and conducting hands-on training sessions for business users.
  • Communicate findings with clarity and confidence to both technical and non-technical audiences, adapting the level of detail appropriately for C-suite, managers, and analysts.

Must-Have Skills & Qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in Business Intelligence, with at least 3 years working extensively in Tableau in a professional environment.
  • Demonstrable mastery of Tableau Desktop — LOD expressions, Table Calculations, Set / Parameter Actions, extract optimisation, and Tableau Server / Cloud publishing.
  • Sharp analytical mind: ability to decompose an ambiguous business question into a structured data problem and build a Tableau solution that answers it cleanly.
  • Strong communication skills — both written and verbal.
  • Proven experience connecting Tableau to live relational databases and managing high-volume extracts with robust refresh schedules.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, granularity, and dimensional vs fact data — enough to immediately identify why a dashboard is double-counting.
  • Ability to own a requirement end-to-end: from stakeholder conversation to published, documented, production-ready workbook.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Immediate joiners or candidates with a notice period of up to 30 days will be given strong preference.

Nice to Have

  • Data Warehousing & ETL: Experience designing or working with data warehouses and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to prepare and manage data for reporting.
  • Additional BI Tools: Working knowledge of Power BI, Qlik Sense, or Qlik View alongside Tableau.
  • Tableau Certifications: Tableau Desktop Specialist or Tableau Desktop Certified Professional certification.
  • SQL Proficiency: Strong command of SQL for data extraction, transformation, and manipulation across relational databases.
  • Data Modelling: Understanding of data modelling techniques (star schema, snowflake schema) and database design principles.

What We Offer

  • A dynamic, high-growth environment.
  • Opportunity to work on impactful data projects with cross-functional visibility across the organisation.
  • Competitive compensation aligned with market standards.
  • Collaborative team culture that values clarity of communication and ownership of outcomes.
