Job Description

Position: Tableau Administrator

Purpose of the Position:

We are seeking an experienced Tableau Administrator with 5 to 7 years of relevant admin experience in managing Tableau On-Prems and Tableau Cloud environments. The ideal candidate should have prior experience in Tableau on-prems to cloud migration and strong skills in Python or other scripting language. The candidate should also have a strong understanding of SQL, relational databases, Tableau scripting, troubleshooting, and Annual Disaster Recovery (DR) testing.

The candidate must be open to working in weekly rotational night shifts

Work Location: India (Infocepts location)

Key Result Areas and Activities:

  • Platform Administration & Monitoring – Oversee the end-to-end administration of Tableau Server (on-prem) and Tableau Cloud, ensuring high availability, security, and optimal performance. Implement proactive monitoring of health, reliability, and performance KPIs to detect and resolve potential issues early.

  • Platform Upgrades & Cloud Migration – Manage on-prem Tableau version upgrades, ensuring seamless transitions with minimal disruption. Lead on-prem to cloud migrations, optimizing performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.

  • Incident Resolution & Root Cause Analysis – Own the incident and ticket management process, ensuring quick resolution while focusing on deep root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurring issues. Maintain a structured approach to troubleshooting and problem management

  • Disaster Recovery & Security Compliance – Conduct Annual Disaster Recovery (DR) testing to validate system resilience and ensure compliance with security, governance, and regulatory policies.

  • Performance Optimization & Process Improvements – Continuously evaluate and enhance Tableau infrastructure, automation, and operational efficiencies, identifying opportunities for cost savings, optimization, and improved system reliability.

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication – Act as a liaison between IT, business users, and vendors, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Provide clear communication on platform status, enhancements, and best practices to drive adoption and efficiency.

Essential skill

  • Strong expertise in Tableau Server (on-prem) and Tableau Cloud administration.
  • Hands-on experience in Tableau on-prem to cloud migration.
  • Proficiency in SQL and relational databases (SQL Server/ PostgreSQL, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of Tableau scripting.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and Tableau optimization.
  • Experience in conducting Annual Disaster Recovery (DR) testing.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices, authentication, and user management in Tableau.
  • Must be open to working in rotational night shifts. ( Shift timings – 2PM till 10 PM and 10PM to 6 AM)

Desired skill

  • Exposure to AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms related to Tableau deployment.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change management.
  • Experience in automating monitoring, alerting, and data extraction.
  • Basic Tableau development skills (dashboards, visualization best practices).
  • Knowledge of scripting for log analysis and system performance tracking.
  • Deep problem-solving mindset focused on root cause analysis rather than temporary fixes.
  • Familiarity with health, reliability, and availability KPIs for Tableau environments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in computer science engineering, or related field
  • Should have 7yrs-9 yrs with 5 years of relevant experience in managing Tableau environments
