Amazon Payments Japan (APJ) is looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to build and manage analytics and reporting for payments business across Co-Branded Credit Cards (CBCC), Installments, eWallet, and other customer facing payment methods. You will own the data pipelines, reporting infrastructure, and end-to-end metrics that inform product, business, and marketing decisions for a portfolio spanning multiple payment instruments in one of Amazon's most complex and regulated marketplaces.

You are an expert with business intelligence tools who partners with the business to identify strategic opportunities where data-backed insights drive value creation. An effective communicator, you translate analytical results into executive-facing business terms, and you work aptly with internal and external teams to push projects across the finish line. You are a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think big while paying careful attention to detail, and you thrive in a fast-paced, global team.

You will partner directly with Product Managers, Science teams, and Finance to transform fragmented data sources into unified measurement frameworks that power business decisions across the APJ payments portfolio.

Key job responsibilities
- Interface with business customers, gather requirements, and deliver complete BI solutions that drive insights and inform product, operations, and marketing decisions.

- Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of sources using SQL (Redshift, Oracle) and a programming/scripting language to process data for modeling.

- Evolve organization-wide self-service analytics platforms.

- Build metrics to analyze key inputs to forecasting systems.

- Lead complex analytical deep dives (segmentation, A/B testing).

- Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or above in business administration, finance, economics, computer science, data science, engineering, or other related field, or 2+ years of Amazon RME (BB/3P) Full Time Exempt experience
- 5+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- 5+ years of Tableau Desktop, Quicksight or other relevant data visualization software experience
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
- Experience using SQL (Structured Query Language) to pull data from a database or data warehouse
- Experience using Python scripting to process data for modeling

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's degree or above in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics or equivalent quantitative field
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel at an advanced level, including: pivot tables, macros, index/match, vlookup, VBA, data links, etc.
- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
- Experience developing and presenting recommendations of new metrics allowing better understanding of the performance of the business
