Job Role - Financial MIS & Associate Business Partner - Retail
Location - Vile Parle, Mumbai
Role Purpose
- This is a dual-mandate position combining hands-on Financial MIS ownership with a strategic Associate Business Partner function for Durian's Furniture & Full Home Customization Retail vertical.
- The incumbent will be the single point of contact between Finance and the Retail business leadership for all operational, analytical, and compliance matters — translating financial data into actionable intelligence that drives profitable growth across Durian's showroom network.
Key Responsibilities
A. Financial Planning, Analysis & MIS Reporting
- Prepare and publish Monthly MIS Actual / Provisional P&L for the Retail vertical with variance commentary and FP&A-level insights.
- Build and maintain Retail P&L with integral profit calculations including performance of associated group companies.
- Provide location-wise Provisional P&L and Customer-wise Low-GP reports with branch-manager remarks each month.
- Prepare Sale vs. Transportation & Installation MIS to monitor last-mile cost efficiency.
- Deliver Financial Projections and forward-looking Sales Strategy inputs to Retail Vertical Heads to guide planning cycles.
- Prepare and reconcile Retail location-wise Sale, GP, and Commission data — MIS vs. Books — to ensure accuracy of reported numbers.
- Develop and maintain miscellaneous MIS reports including Customer Booking-in-Hand, Bill-to-Ship-to reports, and other operational trackers as required by management.
B. Business Partnering & Management Interface
- Act as the primary Finance point of contact for Retail Business Heads, Sales Teams, and Management stakeholders on all operational and financial matters.
- Lead Monthly Review Meetings with Retail Head and Sales Teams — presenting Actual vs. Budgeted results with root-cause analysis and corrective action plans.
- Drive MIS Review with Senior Management: prepare meeting minutes and track follow-through on agreed corrective actions.
- Support business operations by efficiently managing escalations and restoring smooth business normalcy across the showroom network.
C. Profitability & Commercial Analysis
- Conduct deep-dive Profitability Analysis tracing margin translation from Order Booking through Warehouse dispatch to final customer sale.
- Provide Management with granular margin analysis at each sales level — including showroom-level, product-level, and customer-level views.
- Calculate Monthly Sales Incentives: explain financial methodology, validate computed figures, and align with Retail Head and Sales Teams prior to disbursement.
D. Cost Monitoring & Budget Control
- Review and analyze major cost drivers — Rental, Utilities, Showroom Maintenance — and flag variances with recommended corrective actions.
- Track Operational & CAPEX expenditure against Budget; analyze variances and propose cost-optimization measures.
E. Statutory Compliance & Payments
- Ensure timely statutory compliance for all showrooms in the vertical, including GST (filing, reconciliation), TDS, TCS, and other applicable obligations.
- Liaise with GST and Payment Teams for routine financial operations, statutory remittances, and vendor/contractual payments related to the showroom chain.
- Oversee Finance Scheme Operations at showrooms — managing customer financing, scheme reconciliations, and associated compliance.
F. Operations, Logistics & ERP
- Coordinate smooth logistics flow from Central Warehouse to end customer, supporting timely delivery and installation.
- Lead resolution of ERP-related issues (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or equivalent) for the Retail vertical — acting as the Finance-side ERP champion.
- Identify process gaps and champion system-driven improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency of financial and operational reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Minimum: B. Com (Commerce Graduate)
Preferred: Inter CA / CA (Final) / MBA Finance
Additional certification in FP&A or Business Analytics will be an advantage.
Experience
8–10 years in Financial MIS, FP&A, or Business Finance roles.
Exposure to Retail / Consumer Goods / Furniture industry would be an advantage.

Technical Skills
Advanced MS Excel (Power Pivot, dynamic dashboards, complex formulas)
ERP proficiency — Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred; SAP / Tally acceptable
Working knowledge of GST, TDS, TCS compliance and statutory filings
Exposure to BI / reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau etc.) is a plus
