Job Title: Business Development Manager Building Materials

Job Summary

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities to drive revenue growth and market expansion. This role focuses on building relationships with key stakeholders such as architects, builders, contractors, and institutional clients while also exploring new channel and project partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • New Business Acquisition
    • Identify and prioritise sales opportunities across retail, institutional and project segments.
    • Develop territory and account plans to target untapped geographies, verticals and upcoming construction projects.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Establish and nurture relationships with architects, consultants, builders, contractors and government bodies.
    • Conduct regular client meetings, tailored presentations and product demonstrations to influence specifications.
  • Project Sales Management
    • Track and engage with projects at the planning/specification stages to secure product inclusion.
    • Coordinate internally with design, operations and supply teams to ensure timely execution and delivery.
  • Channel Development
    • Support expansion of dealer and distributor networks where relevant and assist with partner onboarding.
    • Maintain strong working relationships and implement programs to drive partner sales.
  • Market Analysis & Strategy
    • Monitor competitor activity and market trends to inform product positioning and pricing.
    • Provide insights for promotional campaigns and product development priorities.
  • Lead Management & Reporting
    • Qualify and convert leads into opportunities through consistent follow-up and solution selling.
    • Maintain accurate CRM records and deliver regular pipeline, forecast and closure reports.
  • Cross-functional Coordination
    • Work closely with marketing, supply chain and finance to resolve issues and improve customer experience.
    • Drive handoffs and post-sales support to ensure repeatable, high-quality delivery.
Key Skills Required

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent).
  • 612 years of experience in Business Development / Project Sales, preferably within the building materials or related construction industries.
  • Proven track record in institutional or B2B sales, project acquisition and stakeholder management.
  • Strong understanding of construction industry dynamics and project-based sales cycles.

Preferred

  • MBA/PGDM in Sales, Marketing, or Business Development.
  • Experience working with architects, consultants, developers or large contractors.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools and demonstrated experience implementing sales processes and reporting.
