Overview:
We are seeking a Business Development Manager — a commercially astute, relationship-driven professional who thrives at the intersection of strategy and storytelling. In this role, you will be the architect of 70 EMG's next chapter of growth, opening doors to new client partnerships across India and beyond, and positioning our capabilities where they matter most.
This is not a role for the passive or the procedural. It demands vision, tenacity, and an instinctive understanding of what moves decision-makers. Job Responsibility:
Your mandate will span strategy, client acquisition, and the cultivation of high-value relationships:
- Chart a growth strategy. Design and execute a tailored approach to new client acquisition — building your own targeted pipeline while leveraging the company's existing networks.
- Open new doors. Identify and secure accounts across sectors including lifestyle, FMCG, fashion, sports, electronics, and exhibitions, bringing fresh revenue streams to the agency.
- Listen, then pitch. Develop a thorough understanding of each client's ambitions and brief, ensuring a seamless handover to our client servicing and creative teams with zero lost in translation.
- Craft bespoke solutions. Present compelling, tailored proposals for exhibition participation, product launches, retail activations, high-profile social events, and more.
- Generate and convert leads. Source opportunities through networking, referrals, industry events, and strategic outreach — then convert them into lasting, recurring partnerships.
- Be the face of 70 EMG. Represent the agency at premier industry forums and events, elevating our visibility and reputation in the marketplace.
- Forge strategic alliances. Negotiate sponsorships, media packages, and barter arrangements for 70 EMG's intellectual properties, as directed.
- Measure and refine. Track sales performance, distil client insights, and report on market dynamics to continuously sharpen our approach.
Work Experience:
We are looking for someone who combines commercial sharpness with a genuine passion for experiential excellence:
- 5+ years experience in business development or sales within event management, exhibitions, retail, or a closely related sector.
- A degree in Marketing, Business, Event Management, or an equivalent field — your academic foundation supports your practical instinct.
- A proven track record of meeting and exceeding ambitious revenue targets, with the client relationships to show for it.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills — you command a room, whether it's a boardroom pitch or a first coffee meeting.
- Skilled in negotiation, with the confidence to hold your ground and the emotional intelligence to know when to adapt.
- Self-motivated and independent, yet a natural collaborator who brings out the best in cross-functional teams.
- A sharp instinct for client needs, able to read between the lines and translate ambiguous briefs into clear, creative solutions.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where no two briefs — and no two days — are the same.
