Job Description

About SKS Cleantech (Arkah Energy)

SKS Cleantech Private Limited (Arkah Energy) is a Mumbai-based rooftop solar company offering CAPEX EPC, OPEX/RESCO (PPA) and O&M services to co-operative housing societies and commercial and industrial clients across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and pan-India.

About the Role

We are hiring a Business Development Manager to own the housing-society market across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region: find societies, get meetings with their managing committees, explain rooftop solar and our techno-commercial differentiators, and take opportunities through to committee approval and contract. This is an individual contributor role with a mix of field work and occasional office days.

Key Responsibilities

Society prospecting and lead generation

  • Build and maintain a target list of housing societies across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and the wider MMR, prioritised by terrace area, sanctioned load, monthly common-area electricity bill and building height.
  • Approach societies through secretary, chairman and treasurer contacts, society managers, federations, referrals from existing customers and cold outreach.
  • Run on-ground activity: society visits, notice-board and AGM/SGM-linked outreach, and awareness sessions where permitted.
  • Track every lead in the CRM from first contact to handover.

Meeting setup and committee engagement

  • Book and conduct introductory meetings, site visits and managing committee presentations.
  • Identify the real decision makers (chairman, secretary, treasurer, committee members, influential residents) and manage the sequence of conversations needed to reach a committee resolution.
  • Support the society through its internal process: draft resolution points, an AGM/SGM agenda note, and answers to resident queries.

Explaining solar and our techno-commercial USP

  • Explain rooftop solar in plain language to non-technical committee members: net metering, savings on common-area bills, discom billing impact (MSEDCL, Adani, Tata, BEST), terrace usage, safety and maintenance.
  • Present our commercial models clearly and compare them honestly: CAPEX (society invests) versus RESCO/PPA (zero investment, pay per unit), including tariff, escalation, tenure and ownership terms.
  • Articulate our differentiators, led by our in-house technology stack that enables faster, data-backed and transparent proposals.
  • Handle objections on terrace leakage, structural load, waterproofing, society funds, resident approval, vendor lock-in and project risk, with facts and reference projects.

Proposal and closure support

  • Collect inputs (latest electricity bills, terrace photos, society details) and coordinate with the technical team for the site survey, design and proposal.
  • Walk the committee through the proposal and financials; follow up through negotiation, clarifications and the committee/general body approval.
  • Support documentation: work order, PPA/EPC agreement, and society NOC and approvals, with the legal and operations teams.
  • Hand over closed deals to the project team with a clean brief, and stay the society's single point of contact until commissioning.

Pipeline, reporting and market intelligence

  • Maintain a weekly pipeline with stage, next action and expected closure date.
  • Report weekly on meetings held, proposals sent, committee decisions pending and reasons for losses.
  • Track competitor offers, society sentiment, tariff and policy changes, and bring them back to the leadership team.
  • Build a referral engine from satisfied societies: reference visits, testimonials and introductions to neighbouring societies.
  • Target: convert about 1 MW of rooftop capacity per month.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of sales or business development experience in the rooftop solar industry (EPC, RESCO or channel).
  • Direct experience selling to housing society committees, with proposals taken through committee and general body approval.
  • Working knowledge of Mumbai/MMR rooftop solar: net metering and the discom process, terrace and structural constraints, typical society objections.
  • Understanding of CAPEX and RESCO/PPA economics: tariff, savings, payback.
  • Fluent in English and Hindi; Marathi is a plus. Comfortable travelling across MMR.
  • Graduate in any discipline; B.E./B.Tech or MBA preferred, not mandatory.
  • Existing network among societies, managers, federations or consultants is a strong plus.

What We Offer

  • Fixed salary plus a performance-linked incentive paid every six months on conversions in the previous six months.
  • Fuel allowance against receipts.
  • Two weekly offs, which can fall on weekdays because society meetings usually happen on weekends.
  • 3-month probation period.
  • Growth path to Senior BD Manager / Regional Head for MMR.
