Job Description

Job Purpose

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving business growth for Ozone's Safe & Locks Division with a strong focus on Government Sales, Institutional Business, and GeM (Government e-Marketplace) Portal operations. The role requires identifying and developing opportunities with government departments, PSUs, defence establishments, railways, banks, educational institutions, hospitals, and other public sector organizations while also managing channel sales and project business.

Key Responsibilities

Government Sales & GeM Portal Management

  • Drive business through Government departments, PSUs, defence establishments, railways, police departments, municipalities, educational institutions, hospitals, banks, and other public sector organizations.
  • Manage complete GeM Portal operations including:
  • Product listing and catalogue management
  • Bid participation and tender submission
  • Reverse auction participation
  • Price updates and product compliance
  • Tracking order status and fulfilment
  • Vendor registration and profile management
  • Identify and monitor upcoming tenders, bids, and procurement opportunities relevant to Safe & Locks products.
  • Prepare and submit techno-commercial bids, tender documents, compliance sheets, and supporting documents.
  • Coordinate internally with finance, operations, logistics, and legal teams for smooth tender execution.
  • Ensure timely completion of all government order formalities, documentation, invoicing, and payment follow-up.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with procurement officers, government officials, consultants, and institutional buyers.

Sales & Business Development

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for Ozone Safe & Locks products.
  • Generate business through government sales, institutional sales, dealer/distributor network, architects, builders, contractors, and project consultants.

Project & Institutional Sales

  • Generate business from institutional and project clients such as:
  • Government offices
  • PSU offices
  • Banks and financial institutions
  • Defence and paramilitary organizations
  • Schools, colleges, and universities
  • Hospitals and healthcare institutions
  • Hospitality and commercial projects
  • Coordinate with architects, consultants, interior designers, and project teams for product approvals and specifications.
  • Track upcoming projects and ensure early engagement for Ozone product specification.

Channel Management

  • Appoint and manage dealers, distributors, and channel partners in the assigned territory.
  • Support channel partners in generating government and institutional business opportunities.
  • Conduct regular market visits, dealer meetings, and business review discussions.
  • Ensure availability of products and timely support for channel partners.

Market Intelligence

  • Gather information on competitor products, pricing, tender participation, and government procurement trends.
  • Track policy changes, GeM Portal updates, and government procurement guidelines.
  • Share market feedback and business opportunities with management.

Reporting & MIS

  • Maintain records of GeM Portal opportunities, tender status, sales pipeline, order execution, and payment collection.
  • Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on business development activities.
  • Update CRM and maintain accurate forecasting of government and institutional sales.
  • Monitor outstanding payments and coordinate for timely collections.

Experience

  • 5–10 years of experience in Business Development / Government Sales / Institutional Sales
  • Strong experience in handling GeM Portal, government tenders, and PSU sales is mandatory
  • Prior experience in Locks, Safes, Architectural Hardware, Building Materials, Security Systems, Electronic Locks, Furniture Hardware, or related industries preferred
  • Experience in dealing with Government departments, PSUs, Railways, Defence, Banks, and large institutions

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of GeM Portal processes, tendering, reverse auction, and bid submission
  • Good understanding of Government procurement procedures and documentation
  • Strong network with Government departments, PSU officials, consultants, architects, and institutional buyers
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skill
