Position: Business Development Manager - Battery Energy Storage system

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Business Development Manager - Energy Storage Systems (ESS) to drive growth in the rapidly evolving renewable energy and energy storage sector. The role requires techno-commercial expertise, market intelligence, and strong client relationship management skills to identify, develop, and close business opportunities across India and international markets.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and develop new business opportunities in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), renewable integration, hybrid power plants, and green hydrogen projects.
Lead the complete business development cycle: market research, lead generation, techno-commercial discussions, proposal preparation, negotiation, and contract closure.
Manage end-to-end tendering & bid management, including RFQs, RFPs, and reverse auctions for BESS projects with utilities, IPPs, government agencies, and corporate clients.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including NTPC, PGCIL, SECI, State DISCOMs, IPPs, EPCs, and developers.
Prepare business cases, cost estimation, risk assessment, and profitability analysis for large-scale ESS projects.
Work with cross-functional teams to deliver client-centric solutions.
Drive go-to-market strategies, deployment plans, and revenue growth initiatives.
Track and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and policy/regulatory updates in the energy storage and renewable energy sector.
Own sales targets, ensure timely achievement of business objectives, and maintain a healthy project pipeline.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong background in Business Development, Key Account Management, and Sales in the energy/renewable sector.
Experience in ESS/BESS project development, techno-commercial evaluation, and tendering.
Proven ability to manage large-value deals (INR 100 Cr+ range) and complex negotiations.
Strong network across government agencies, utilities, and renewable developers.
Expertise in SWOT analysis, project management, and cross-functional coordination.
Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks, CERC/SERC policies, open access, and storage-related guidelines.
Qualifications
B.Tech / B.E. (Electrical / Energy / Power Systems) from a recognized university (mandatory).
MBA/PGDM (preferred) with specialization in Business Development/Marketing/Energy.
12-18 years of relevant experience in Renewable Energy / Energy Storage / Power Sector.
Certifications in Lean Six Sigma, AI/ML, or Project Management will be an added advantage.
