ROLE OVERVIEW
The Business Development & Sales Manager will own all revenue generation and design-win activity for Axiro's edge AI product portfolio across India. This is a senior, high-ownership commercial role responsible for building the India customer base from the ground up — identifying and prioritising target accounts, developing executive and technical relationships, driving design-in cycles to closure, and building a sustainable pipeline across multiple verticals.
You will work in close partnership with the Applications Engineering Manager, report to the Head of Strategic Partnerships & Ecosystem and build and mentor a team of Sales Engineers as the business scales. This role requires a blend of technical credibility and commercial acumen: you must be equally comfortable presenting performance benchmarks to an engineering team and negotiating commercial terms with a procurement head.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Demand Creation & Market Development
- Develop and execute a go-to-market strategy for Axiro's edge AI product portfolio across target verticals in India, identifying priority accounts and establishing a structured engagement plan.
- Build Axiro's brand and market presence in the India edge AI ecosystem through direct customer engagement, industry events, partner relationships, and thought leadership.
- Map target accounts AI infrastructure requirements — including inference performance, power constraints, form factor, and cost targets — and position Axiro's solutions competitively against incumbent platforms.
- Develop deep understanding of competitive dynamics in the India edge AI accelerator market and maintain current competitive intelligence.
Customer Engagement & Design-Win Management
- Build and maintain senior commercial and technical relationships at target accounts across OEM, ODM, system integrator, and defence prime contractor segments.
- Lead all commercial interactions from discovery through proposal, negotiation, and contract execution.
- Own the full sales cycle: manage evaluation samples, proof-of-concept milestones, pricing negotiations (within company guidelines), and supply chain coordination including MOQ, lead times, and Incoterm requirements.
- Coordinate closely with the Applications Engineering Manager for seamless handoff between commercial engagement and technical design-in; participate in joint customer reviews.
Pipeline & Revenue Management
- Maintain a rigorous CRM-based opportunity pipeline with accurate stage, volume, ASP, probability, and timeline data. Own quarterly revenue forecasts; present pipeline reviews and gap-closure plans to leadership.
- Drive post-sale customer success: support ramp phases, resolve commercial escalations, conduct regular business reviews, and identify future opportunities.
Ecosystem & Channel Development
- Identify and develop channel partners and distributors to extend Axiro's reach in non-direct or geographically dispersed segments; plan and deliver commercial partner training.
- Represent Axiro at AI, semiconductor, and vertical industry events across India; contribute to Axiro's engagement with Govt. of India on AI and semiconductor policy initiatives.
Distributor management & Team Leadership
- Work closely with Axiro's distributor to align on account coverage, pipeline development, and sales targets; conduct regular business reviews to track sell-through performance, forecast accuracy, and demand generation activities across target verticals in India.
- Manage the distributor relationship through structured quarterly business reviews, performance tracking against agreed KPIs, product training, and joint planning cycles to ensure the distributor remains an effective and motivated channel partner for Axiro's edge AI portfolio.
- Recruit, onboard, and mentor a team of Sales Engineers/ representatives
Reporting & Market Intelligence
- Maintain win/loss documentation and share competitive intelligence with product and leadership teams. Consolidate voice-of-customer feedback into actionable product and strategy inputs.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. MBA from a reputed institution preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in technical sales, business development, or channel management within the semiconductor, AI hardware, embedded systems, or electronics distribution industry.
- Proven track record of independently building a sales pipeline, closing design-wins, and generating revenue in the Indian market — ideally within one or more of the following segments: smart cameras and vision systems, robotics and automation, defence electronics, or industrial IoT.
- Prior experience selling AI accelerators, SoCs, embedded computing platforms, or high-performance semiconductor products is strongly preferred. Familiarity with the edge AI competitive landscape in India is a significant advantage.
- Experience managing a commercial relationship with a global technology principal, including coordination on pricing, supply chain, and joint customer engagement, is highly desirable.
Commercial & Technical Skills
- Solid understanding of AI inference concepts, edge computing architectures, and semiconductor hardware — sufficient for credible engagement with engineering audiences. Familiarity with competitive edge AI platforms is an advantage.
- Proficient in CRM-based pipeline management, sales forecasting, and deal structuring. Experience with MOQ structures, lead time management, and Incoterms in semiconductor or electronics distribution.
Attributes
- Broad network in India's semiconductor, electronics manufacturing, defence electronics, and AI ecosystem — with existing relationships at OEM, ODM, SI, and government procurement levels strongly preferred.
