Role Brief – Lead Business Development (Utility Scale Bidding)
This role is focused on driving growth in the renewable energy sector by identifying and securing utility-scale projects (solar, wind, hybrid, BESS) through competitive bidding. The individual will be responsible for end-to-end bid management, including opportunity identification, regulatory alignment, financial modelling, and stakeholder coordination.
The role involves close interaction with government bodies, regulatory authorities, and internal teams to develop strong bidding strategies, ensure compliance, and successfully convert opportunities into executable projects.
Core Key Requirements
- Experience:
- 15+ years in the power sector with strong exposure to renewable energy IPPs and utility-scale bidding
- Domain Expertise: In-depth knowledge of power sector regulations, PPA frameworks, and bidding processes
- Experience in solar, wind, hybrid, and BESS projects
- Bidding & Strategy: Proven experience in handling end-to-end bidding (RFS review to submission)
- Ability to develop competitive and data-driven bid strategies
- Financial Skills: Strong expertise in financial modelling, IRR/ROI analysis, and investment evaluation
- Regulatory & Stakeholder Management: Hands-on experience working with MNRE, SECI, CERC, state nodal agencies, etc.
- Strong government liaison and stakeholder management skills
- Project & Execution Understanding: Knowledge of project lifecycle, connectivity approvals, and regulatory clearances
- Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership abilities
- Proficiency in Excel and financial modelling tools
