Job Description

The Business Development Consultant (Government Sector) will be responsible for driving soware sales and business growth within government departments, PSUs, and public sector organizations. The role involves identifying government opportunities, managing tender participation, building strong relationships with key officials, and ensuring successful closure of deals in compliance with public procurement policies.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and pursue business opportuni es within central, state, and local government departments, PSUs, and public agencies.

Monitor and respond to government tenders, RFPs, and e-procurement portals.

Coordinate with internal technical and pre-sales teams to prepare proposals, quotations, and technical submissions.

Develop and maintain relationships with government officials, consultants, and procurement teams.

Ensure compliance with government procurement processes, documentation, and contract requirements. Conduct software product demonstrations and presentations tailored for government stakeholders.

Work closely with channel partners and system integrators for project collaborations.

Maintain updated knowledge of government schemes, digital initiatives, and policy changes.

Achieve monthly and quarterly sales targets specific to the government sector.

Maintain accurate reports in CRM and prepare business forecasts.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or IT.

6–10 years of experience in so ware or IT solutions sales, preferably handling government clients or public sector business.

Strong understanding of government procurement processes, GeM portal, e-tendering, and bid management.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

Ability to manage long sales cycles and complex bidding procedures.

Proficiency with CRM and Microsoft Office tools.

Willingness to travel for client meetings and presentations.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience selling BIM, CAD, ERP, or digital infrastructure so ware to government organiza ons.

Familiarity with Smart City, Digital India, or e-Governance projects.

MBA or postgraduate degree in Sales/Marke ng or Public Administra on.
