Jobally is recruiting on behalf of our client in the education industry for a Business Development & Commercial Strategy Specialist on a contract basis.
We are looking for a commercially minded and analytical professional to support business development, strategic partnerships and growth initiatives.
Working closely with senior leadership, you will evaluate new business opportunities, develop financial models and business cases, support commercial and partnership negotiations, and translate complex information into clear recommendations for decision-making.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in commercial strategy, business planning, consulting, financial analysis, partnerships or strategic projects who enjoys working across multiple functions and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial & Strategic Analysis
- Develop financial models, feasibility assessments and scenario analysis for new business and partnership opportunities.
- Evaluate revenue, costs, profitability, ROI and commercial structures.
- Conduct market research, competitor benchmarking and opportunity assessments.
- Identify key commercial opportunities, risks and dependencies and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
Business Cases & Strategic Projects
- Develop business cases, operating models and strategic proposals for new partnerships, programmes and regional initiatives.
- Prepare management presentations, reports and decision papers for senior leadership.
- Consolidate financial, operational, academic, market and commercial inputs into concise, decision-ready recommendations.
- Support implementation planning and track key milestones, deliverables and risks.
Partnerships & Commercial Contracts
- Support the development and management of university and strategic partnerships.
- Coordinate commercial agreements, partnership documentation and contract review processes.
- Work closely with Legal, Finance, Academic, Operations, Marketing, Recruitment and other stakeholders to align commercial and operational requirements.
- Review commercial and contractual terms and identify financial, operational and implementation implications.
Stakeholder & Project Management
- Coordinate cross-functional workstreams and ensure timely delivery of key actions and milestones.
- Support partner discussions through preparation of proposals, presentations, briefs and follow-up materials.
- Maintain clear documentation, project trackers and reporting for assigned initiatives.
- Provide structured updates to senior management on progress, risks and key decisions.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or a related discipline postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in commercial strategy, business planning, financial analysis, business development, consulting, corporate planning or strategic projects.
- Strong experience in financial modelling, business case development and commercial analysis.
- Good understanding of commercial contracts and the ability to assess financial and operational implications.
- Strong analytical, research and problem-solving capabilities.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear business insights.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Comfortable working across multiple functions and managing concurrent projects.
- Experience in higher education, strategic partnerships, transnational education or a complex stakeholder environment will be advantageous.
- Self-driven, structured and commercially minded, with strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with internal and external stakeholders, including overseas partners occasional travel may be required
