1. Role Purpose
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving revenue growth through the sale of power to Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and Utility customers. This role involves identifying potential clients, developing strategic partnerships, and closing deals. The candidate will play a key role in expanding the company's footprint in the open access market.
2. Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Growth
- Identify and target potential C&I and Utility customers for power sales.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve business volume targets.
- Lead negotiations and close deals with clients, ensuring profitability and compliance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in client organizations.
Market & Customer Intelligence
- Conduct market research to understand customer needs, industry trends, and competitor offerings.
- Analyze customer segments and develop tailored solutions to meet their energy requirements.
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on business opportunities.
Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with internal teams (regulatory, finance, legal, operations) to structure competitive offerings.
- Develop go-to-market strategies for new geographies and customer segments.
- Provide inputs for pricing models, risk assessments, and contract structuring.
Regulatory & Compliance
- Stay updated on state and central electricity regulations, open access policies, and renewable energy mandates.
- Ensure all deals comply with applicable laws and internal governance standards.
3. Qualifications
- Education: B.Tech in Electrical/Mechanical/Power Engineering or related field.
- Preferred: MBA in Marketing, Strategy, or Energy Management.
4. Experience
- Total Experience: 1015 years in sales/business development.
- Relevant Experience: Minimum 5 years in IPP/C&I power sales or energy solutions.
- Preferred Background: Candidates with experience in selling renewable energy, open access power, or energy-as-a-service solutions to C&I clients.
