Role Overview
The Business Development Associate will be responsible for driving the top-of-funnel business development efforts for GenY Medium by identifying potential prospects and initiating meaningful outreach.
The role involves building targeted prospect lists, engaging with marketing decision-makers across organisations, and generating qualified leads for the Senior Manager Business Development to pursue and convert. The individual will play a key role in opening doors with the right stakeholders and contributing to the company's new business pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
* Prospecting & Research: Build and continuously refine targeted prospect lists across D2C/e-commerce brands, funded startups, and enterprise organisations in Bangalore and key metros. Conduct in-depth research on prospect profiles, including their business context, current agency relationships, digital marketing maturity, and potential challenges before initiating outreach.
* Lead Generation & Outreach: Execute structured, multi-touch outreach campaigns across email, LinkedIn, and calls to generate qualified leads and initiate conversations with potential clients. Craft personalised outreach messages that reflect GenY Medium's strategy-first positioning.
* Relationship Building: Engage with marketing decision-makers such as CMOs, brand managers, growth leads, and founders to introduce the agency's capabilities and establish meaningful conversations.
* Pipeline Management & CRM: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all outreach activities, prospect interactions, and lead qualification notes within the CRM system.
* Internal Coordination: Support the Senior Manager Business Development in preparing pitch decks, agency credentials, and proposal briefs when required, and participate in pipeline discussions to share insights on prospect behaviour and market signals.
Required Qualifications & Skills
* Bachelor's degree from a reputed institute.
* 13 years of experience in media sales, ad sales, digital advertising sales, or a comparable business development role with outbound prospecting experience.
* Familiarity with digital marketing and advertising concepts to confidently engage with marketing decision-makers.
* Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling outreach messages and engage senior stakeholders.
* Relationship Building: Ability to initiate conversations and build rapport with marketing leaders and decision-makers.
* Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple prospects, maintain follow-ups, and track outreach pipelines effectively.
* Personal Attributes: Highly organised, resilient, and self-motivated, with a natural curiosity about business and marketing and a persistent approach to outbound business development.
