We are looking for a Business Data Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will be a key contributor in driving enterprise-wide data and technology transformation. You will work at the intersection of Business, Data, and Technology, ensuring that business intent is clearly understood and translated into actionable, high-quality data and reporting solutions that enable informed decision-making and measurable business value. The Business Data Analyst partners closely with business process owners, workstream teams, Data Management, Data Engineering, and BI Delivery teams. The team operates in a fast-paced, agile environment, collaborating across Technology, Data, and Business stakeholders to deliver trusted, governed, and value-driven data solutions that support strategic initiatives. This role is a part of the Guardian Application team within the KCC. Guardian, a Koch Industries company, is one of the world's largest manufacturers of float glass and fabricated glass products. What You Will Do
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with business stakeholders to clarify data and reporting requirements and define clear acceptance criteria.
- Act as a data subject-matter liaison within agile workstream teams during requirement definition and delivery.
- Lead business discussions for report identification, design, and development.
- Author clear, concise Lean Specs and requirement documentation.
- Collaborate with BI Delivery and Data Engineering teams to translate reporting needs into build-ready requirements.
- Engage Data Management early to validate governed definitions, critical data element (CDE) impacts, and data readiness.
- Coordinate business and Data Management participation across data load cycles, including intake, scheduling, UAT, validation, and stakeholder communication.
- Capture business-to-data mappings and ensure alignment with Data Management–owned artifacts.
- Work with business owners, Data Stewards, and Data Management to identify changes to data attributes and values.
- Proactively identify, communicate, and resolve issues and risks during development and testing phases.
- Keep business and workstream stakeholders informed through standups, dashboards, ADO updates, and status reports.
What You Will Be Doing
- Provide business data domain expertise in support of key initiatives.
- Serve as a core member of agile delivery teams, ensuring solutions align with prioritized business needs.
- Challenge assumptions to ensure solutions support both current and future business requirements.
- Recommend improvements to business processes, reporting, and customer experiences.
- Balance delivery timelines, quality, and cost while meeting project commitments.
- Build strong relationships across Business, Technology, and Data teams to support shared goals.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in business, Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related field (or equivalent experience).
- Total of 5-10 years of experience, 2–3 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, BI Analyst, or in a data-focused role; 5–10 years of overall IT experience.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with high learning agility.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience in business process mapping, system requirements definition, and test scenario creation.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
- Proven ability to build positive working relationships in a team-oriented environment.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience working with ERP systems and end-to-end business processes.
- Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Experience using Azure DevOps (ADO).
- Working knowledge of SQL and hands-on Snowflake experience.
- Experience authoring Lean Specs, requirements documentation, and data mappings.
- Experience working closely with Data Management, Data Stewards, and business stakeholders.
- Manufacturing industry experience is a plus.
