Job Description

As a Business Analyst in our Water Utility Digital team, you will lead the transformation of operational data into actionable insights using the Microsoft Azure stack. You will work closely with stakeholders to capture business requirements for water supply, wastewater, and network analytics, translating them into technical specifications for data ingestion, Lakehouse modelling, and Power BI reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Azure Data Integration Alignment: Act as the liaison between business stakeholders and data engineering teams to define data ingestion, transformation, and quality rules within Azure Data Lakehouse layers.

Process Mapping & Analytics: Analyse current As-Is processes and design To-Be processes to optimize water network performance and maintenance using data.

Power BI Reporting Coordination: Work with reporting teams to define dashboards, metrics, and visualization logic. Validate that Power BI outputs (e.g., flow rates, pressure diagnostics) are accurate and consistent.

Data Governance & Data Quality: Ensure all data solutions adhere to company data governance standards, data lineage requirements, and security compliance.

Azure DevOps & Agile Delivery: Use Azure DevOps to manage product backlogs, track user stories, and coordinate UAT (User Acceptance Testing) with business users.

Required Qualifications & Experience
Experience: 10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with at least 2 years specifically in the Water/Utilities domain.
Technical Proficiency (Azure): Demonstrated experience with Azure data platforms, including Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), and Azure Databricks.
Power BI: Advanced proficiency in designing and interpreting data using Microsoft Power BI (DAX, Power Query).
SQL & Data Manipulation: Strong ability to query data using SQL for profiling and validation.
Agile Knowledge: Hands-on experience working in Agile teams using Azure DevOps.

Preferred Skills & Competencies
Domain Knowledge: Understanding of SCADA data, hydraulic modeling, asset management, or smart meter data within the water sector.
Process Modeling Tools: Proficiency in MS Visio, Lucidchart, or similar for process mapping.
Soft Skills: Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical operational staff.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Successful delivery of user stories within sprint deadlines.
Reduction in data discrepancies reported by end-users.
