Position: Senior Business Analyst / Functional Consultant – Insurance & AI
Experience: 6+ years
The Senior Business Analyst / Functional Consultant will lead requirements discovery, solution design, and stakeholder engagement for insurance domain projects, with a strong focus on leveraging AI / Generative AI solutions. The role combines business analysis, project management, and functional consulting, working closely with business and technical teams in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Functional Consulting
- Lead end-to-end requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation (BRD, FRD, user stories).
- Translate business needs into clear, testable functional specifications and process flows.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams.
- Conduct gap analysis, impact analysis, and define to‑be processes for insurance products and operations.
Insurance Domain
- Work on solutions related to Life, Health, General, or P&C insurance (any one or more lines).
- Understand policy administration, underwriting, claims, billing, and customer service workflows.
- Support configuration/customization of insurance platforms and related applications.
Project Management & Delivery
- Plan and track project activities, milestones, risks, and dependencies.
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams (business, IT, QA, vendors) to ensure on‑time delivery.
- Contribute to estimation, release planning, and status reporting.
Agile / Scrum
- Work as Product Owner proxy or senior BA within Scrum teams.
- Own and refine the product backlog, prioritize user stories, and define acceptance criteria.
- Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
AI / Generative AI
- Identify use cases where AI and Generative AI can add value (e.g., underwriting support, claims automation, customer service, document processing).
- Collaborate with data science/AI engineering teams to define requirements, success metrics, and evaluation criteria.
- Support POCs and pilots using AI tools and platforms, and contribute to production rollouts.
- Provide hands-on support in configuring, testing, and validating AI-based solutions.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Engage business users, SMEs, and leadership to gather requirements and secure buy‑in.
- Present solutions, roadmaps, and progress updates clearly and confidently.
- Manage expectations, handle conflicts, and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
Required Skills & Experience
Experience
- Minimum 6+ years as a Business Analyst or Functional Consultant.
- Proven experience in insurance domain (Life, Health, General, or P&C).
- Demonstrated project management exposure (ownership of workstreams, timelines, risks).
Core Competencies
- Strong requirements analysis and process modelling (use cases, workflows, UML/BPMN preferred).
- Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum practices and tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
- Experience creating user stories, acceptance criteria, and leading backlog refinement.
AI & Technology
- Hands-on experience with AI technologies (e.g., NLP, chatbots, Generative AI tools/platforms).
- Ability to define AI use cases, data requirements, and evaluation metrics with technical teams.
- Comfortable working with modern collaboration tools and cloud-based platforms.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation capabilities.
- Analytical mindset, problem-solving attitude, and ability to work independently.
