Join Us as a Business Analyst - Marine Fuels Trading & Procurement
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Business Analyst to join our Bunker Trading team. The successful candidate will support trading and purchasing operations by delivering insights, performance analysis, supply-demand modeling, and risk evaluations. This role is pivotal in enhancing decision-making, optimizing procurement strategies, and improving profitability across marine fuels.
TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze trading performance, supplier pricing, and purchase trends across regions.
- Develop KPIs, dashboards, and reporting tools for procurement and trading teams.
- Track market movements (e.g., MOPS, CIF Med, ICE Gasoil, Brent) and support real-time trading decisions.
Market Intelligence
- Monitor marine fuel markets and compile supply-demand intelligence on key ports.
- Monitor crude oil supply-demand using intelligence on national stock piles, cargo movements
- Support risk assessment models based on geopolitical, logistics, and pricing developments.
Procurement Optimization
- Assist in evaluating and benchmarking suppliers based on price, reliability, credit terms, and delivery performance.
- Recommend procurement strategies based on forecast models and cost-benefit analysis.
Contract & Commercial Analysis
- Review and analyze marine fuel contracts, spot deals, and term arrangements.
- Assist in standardizing commercial terms and tracking compliance.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Maritime Studies, or related field.
- 25 years experience in a business analyst or commercial support role, preferably in marine fuels, energy trading, or shipping.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Experience working with bunker pricing tools, indices (e.g., MOPS, Argus, Platts).
- Strong understanding of marine fuels (VLSFO, HSFO, MGO), bunker markets, and global shipping dynamics is advantageous.
- Exposure to credit, contract negotiations in marine fuels.
- Commercial acumen and interest in trading economics.
- Proficiency in Excel, Power BI/Tableau, Canva and other reporting tools compulsory.
