Business Analyst

IIT Bombay seeks two (2) skilled Business Analysts for contractual roles to Work on multiple projects related to ERP implementation, student non-academic life and activities, student academic life cycle, faculty recruitment, research project management etc.

The requirement is immediate, and confirmed for a 3-month period, mutually extendable to longer periods (there is plenty of work across several projects).

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze current processes in student services (hostels, messes, sports facilities, clubs, etc.) to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and digital transformation opportunities.
• Gather requirements from all stakeholders including leadership roles like Deans and HODs, wardens, student representatives, faculty, and administrative staff through workshops, interviews, and surveys.
• Document business needs, user stories, process flows, and functional specifications for system enhancements or new platforms (e.g., hostel allotment portals, mess billing apps, activity management tools).
• Recommend data-driven solutions like analytics dashboards, website UI/UX requirements, or mobile apps.
• Collaborate with IT teams and vendors to define technical requirements, support implementation, and conduct user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Track project progress, manage change requests, and prepare reports on KPIs such as system adoption, cost savings, and student satisfaction.

Required Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master's in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; certification like CBAP/CCBA preferred.
• 3-5 years as Business Analyst, ideally in education/higher ed or public sector projects involving student services/ERP systems.
• Strong understanding of higher education operations, especially student affairs (hostels, extracurriculars, well-being programs). Exposure to Frappe platform and ERPNext preferred.
• Experience with tools like MS Visio, Jira, Confluence, Excel/Power BI for process mapping and analytics.

Essential Skills

• Analytical mindset with expertise in requirements elicitation, BPMN modeling, and gap analysis.
• Excellent communication to bridge students, faculty, and tech teams; stakeholder management experience.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies, SaaS platforms (e.g., ERPNext, Moodle), and basic SQL/data visualization.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced academic environment; contract duration 6-12 months (extendable).

Preferred Attributes

• Knowledge of IIT systems or Indian higher ed regulations (e.g., hostel norms, UGC guidelines).
• Experience with student-centric digital tools (e.g., gymkhana apps, mental health platforms) desired.
• Resident of Mumbai preferred as user engagement will be at IIT Bombay in Powai

Pay details: 1,30,000/- Per month (Max.) based on total experience
