Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Buffing Technician role based in Kochi. The Buffing Technician is responsible for polishing and finishing biomedical equipment components to meet defined surface quality and safety standards. Day-to-day tasks include operating buffing and polishing tools, preparing components for finishing, inspecting surfaces for defects, and making adjustments to achieve the required finish. The role also involves following standard operating procedures, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and coordinating with production and quality teams to ensure timely completion of orders. The Buffing Technician is expected to record basic production data, report equipment issues, and support continuous improvement in finishing processes.
Qualifications
- Experience or training in buffing, polishing, or surface finishing using hand tools and powered equipment.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing or mechanical processes, preferably in medical devices, precision components, or related industries.
- Understanding of workplace safety practices, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of tools and materials.
- Attention to detail with the ability to visually inspect components, identify surface defects, and maintain consistent quality standards.
- Ability to follow written instructions, technical guidelines, and standard operating procedures with minimal supervision.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, handle repetitive tasks, and manage light to moderate lifting as part of the production process.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative attitude to work with supervisors, quality inspectors, and other production team members.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred; vocational training or certification in mechanical or industrial trades is an advantage.
