Job Summary
We are looking for a Technical Project Manager (TPM) with strong experience in Shopify eCommerce implementations who can lead projects from architecture definition to delivery. The ideal candidate should have hands-on understanding of Shopify architecture, integrations, and middleware-based solutions, and be capable of guiding technical teams while managing project execution.
The role requires a combination of technical leadership, solution architecture thinking, and delivery management.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Architecture Leadership :
- Define and review solution architecture for Shopify implementations, including integrations with ERP, CRM, payment gateways, and third-party platforms.
- Evaluate and recommend Shopify native features, apps, middleware, or custom solutions.
- Design integration approaches using APIs, middleware platforms, or custom services.
- Guide development teams on Shopify best practices, performance considerations, and platform constraints.
- Design and implement scalable Shopify architecture for complex eCommerce solutions.
- Define technical strategies for Shopify theme development, app development, and system integrations.
- Architect integrations between Shopify and external systems such as ERP, CRM, OMS, PIM, payment gateways, and fulfilment systems.
- Lead the implementation of custom Shopify apps using GraphQL APIs and modern backend frameworks.
- Guide teams in building high-performance and secure Shopify applications.
- Evaluate and recommend best practices, tools, and technologies for Shopify development.
- Work closely with stakeholders, product teams, and project managers to align business and technical requirements.
- Conduct technical reviews, architecture planning, and solution design documentation.
- Ensure performance optimization, scalability, and maintainability of Shopify solutions.
- Stay updated with the latest Shopify platform updates, APIs, and enterprise capabilities.
Project Delivery & Execution
- Own end-to-end delivery of Shopify projects including store builds, migrations, and enhancements.
- Prepare project plans, define milestones, and ensure timely delivery.
- Manage scope, risks, dependencies, and change requests.
- Coordinate closely with development, QA, DevOps, and design teams.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the technical point of contact for clients during project execution.
- Conduct requirement discussions and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Provide regular project updates and manage stakeholder expectations.
Quality & Launch Governance
- Ensure proper QA, UAT, and release processes.
- Validate migration activities including products, customers, and SEO redirects.
- Ensure launch readiness including payments, shipping, and integrations.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of the Shopify platform, themes, apps, and APIs
- Experience defining architecture for Shopify-based eCommerce solutions
- Hands-on exposure to middleware or integration platforms connecting Shopify with ERP/CRM systems
- Knowledge of REST APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations
- Experience managing Agile or Scrum-based delivery
- Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making ability
Experience
- 7+ years of experience in IT / eCommerce delivery
- 3+ years managing Shopify implementation or migration projects
- Experience handling integration-heavy eCommerce projects
Preferred
- Experience with Shopify Plus projects
- Exposure to global eCommerce implementations
- Familiarity with tools like Jira or Azure DevOps
