The Head of BMT will lead and oversee the hospital's Bone Marrow Transplant program, ensuring clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and adherence to international standards. The role demands a highly experienced Hematologist/Oncologist with deep expertise in autologous and allogeneic transplants, program development, and multidisciplinary team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership:
Lead all Bone Marrow Transplant procedures (Autologous & Allogeneic)
Manage high-risk hematological cases including leukemias, lymphomas, aplastic anemia, and other blood disorders
Ensure best-in-class patient outcomes through evidence-based practices
Oversee pre- and post-transplant care, including complications like GVHD
Program Development & Management:
Establish, expand, and optimize the BMT program
Develop clinical protocols aligned with NABH/JCI standards
Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements
Monitor program KPIs (success rates, infection control, mortality rates)
Team Leadership:
Lead a multidisciplinary team including hematologists, oncologists, intensivists, nurses, and transplant coordinators
Mentor junior doctors and clinical staff
Conduct training programs and continuous medical education (CME)
Operational Excellence:
Collaborate with hospital administration for budgeting and resource planning
Optimize transplant unit operations including ICU coordination and lab services
Ensure availability of stem cell processing, HLA typing, and blood bank support
Research & Innovation:
Drive clinical research, publications, and participation in international BMT registries
Introduce advanced transplant techniques and protocols
Maintain updated knowledge of global advancements in hematology and transplant medicine
Qualifications:
MBBS + MD (Medicine/Pediatrics) + DM/DNB in Hematology / Medical Oncology
Fellowship or specialized training in Bone Marrow Transplant (preferred)
Registration with National Medical Commission (NMC)
Experience Required:
Minimum 10+ years of experience in Hematology/Oncology
Extensive hands-on experience in performing BMT procedures
Proven track record of leading or setting up a BMT unit
Experience in handling high transplant volumes preferred
