Long Description

Your Role

As a BIW Design Engineer, you will be responsible for creating high‑quality BIW structures and surface models using NX CAD. You will apply strong knowledge of sheet‑metal design, joining techniques, and manufacturing processes to deliver accurate and feasible BIW solutions. Effective communication, attention to detail, and familiarity with GD&T and automotive development standards are essential to succeeding in this role.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform BIW structural design activities across key areas such as pillars, roof, underbody, and front‑end systems.
  • Create precise NX CAD surface models and ensure adherence to quality and Class‑A requirements.
  • Apply BIW sheet‑metal concepts, forming/deep‑drawing knowledge, and manufacturing feasibility guidelines.
  • Integrate suitable joining techniques and joining elements into BIW designs.
  • Support component development and provide inputs on casting components where applicable.
  • Interpret engineering requirements, GD&T, and vehicle architecture constraints to generate robust BIW solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve design issues and ensure design alignment across domains.
  • Prepare and manage design documentation and communicate effectively with stakeholders throughout the design cycle.

  • BIW knowledge
  • NX CAD Surface modelling
  • Casting components design will be added advantage
  • knowledge on Joining techniques
  • Good Communication skills
  • BIW Structure domain knowledge in any area (e.g., A-Pillar/B Pillar/C Pillar/Roof/Underbody/Front End)
  • NX skills - Mandatory
  • Knowledge of joining elements
  • Good understanding of sheet metal/forming/deep drawing parts development
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of GD&T
