About BIU
Axis Banks (BIU): This is a high profile team with a mandate to drive data based decisions within the bank. Reporting in to Head Banking Operations and Transformation, this department works with all businesses of the bank including retail, small business and corporate to drive analytics. In terms of functions, the department has teams focused on all aspects of analytics for the bank including risk analytics, financial crime analytics, business and marketing analytics, building predictive scores, data engineering and business reporting.

his role is responsible for driving data engineering strategy, managing high‑performing teams, ensuring delivery excellence, and partnering with BA & ABR stakeholders to build reliable, scalable, and compliant data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy . Lead and mentor data engineering team, fostering a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement. . Define and execute the data engineering roadmap aligned with business, analytics, and reporting. . Act as a key stakeholder interface, collaborating closely with BA, ABR and DE Team. Data Engineering & Architecture . Design, build, and optimize scalable batch and near‑real‑time data pipelines using PySpark. . Oversee enterprise ETL/ELT development using Informatica (PowerCenter / IICS) for structured and semi‑structured data. . Drive adoption of strong data modeling practices (dimensional, fact, and domain‑oriented models) to support analytics and reporting. . Ensure data accuracy, lineage, consistency, and performance across platforms. Delivery & DevOps . Own end‑to‑end delivery of data engineering initiatives, ensuring adherence to timelines, SLAs, and quality benchmarks. . Implement and govern CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket and Jenkins for automated builds, testing, and deployment
Qualifications
Post-graduation or B.Tech, M Tech
Role Proficiencies:
PySpark - Advanced expertise in large‑scale data transformation and performance optimization. . Informatica (PowerCenter / IICS) - Strong hands‑on and architectural understanding of ETL frameworks. . Data Modeling - Proven experience in designing fact/dimension models and enterprise data structures. . Bitbucket - Version control, branching strategies, and code governance. . Jenkins - CI/CD pipeline design, automation, and release management. . Jira - Agile delivery tracking, dependency management, and reporting. Managerial & Behavioral Skills . Strong people‑management experience leading multi‑layered teams. . Excellent stakeholder communication and conflict‑resolution skills. . Ability to balance delivery speed with scale, stability, and compliance. . Strategic thinking with hands‑on execution mindset.
