Role Description The Bima Sakhi / City Career Agent role is a client-facing opportunity based in Kolkata, with a hybrid work arrangement that combines office visits, field engagement, and some work-from-home flexibility. In this role, the agent will identify prospective customers, explain LIC's insurance and savings products, and recommend suitable plans aligned with customer needs and financial goals. Day-to-day responsibilities include meeting individuals and families, conducting basic needs assessments, assisting with proposal forms and documentation, and supporting customers through policy issuance and servicing. The agent will also engage in regular follow-ups, renewal reminders, and basic post-sales support to help maintain strong, long-term customer relationships. In addition, the role involves participating in local marketing and awareness activities, attending training sessions, and meeting performance targets set by LIC in a professional and ethical manner.
Qualifications
  • Ability to communicate clearly with diverse customers in a polite, respectful, and professional manner, with strong listening skills and customer service orientation.
  • Interest in financial products, insurance, or basic financial planning, with willingness to learn LIC's product portfolio and explain benefits in simple terms.
  • Comfort with fieldwork in Kolkata, including visiting clients, attending meetings at LIC offices, and managing a hybrid schedule with some work from home.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented mindset, with the ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet agreed business targets.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy, with the ability to complete forms accurately and maintain simple records; familiarity with smartphones or basic digital tools is an advantage.
  • Commitment to ethical sales practices, confidentiality, and responsible handling of customer information.
  • Prior experience in sales, community outreach, or customer-facing roles is beneficial but not mandatory; training and guidance will be provided.
