Overview

Your role

  • Undertake PHE (Plumbing) and Fire system design to local and international standards, including Canada, Middle East (ME), UK region.
  • Understand and apply Canada / British / European, ME and AtkinsRalis standards.
  • Undertake design of a variety of Plumbing design elements i.e. Domestic cold and hot water services, Sanitary and Vent, underground drainage.
  • Thorough understanding of wet and dry fire protection systems, including their design principles and operational requirements.
  • Proficient in Medical Gas and LPG systems, with expertise in design principles and adherence to safety standards.
  • Conducting peer reviews of fire protection system design and producing technical review reports.
  • Responsible for completion of projects within his/her team to time and cost.
  • Assist the Team leader/ Senior Engineer / Engineers in presenting design solutions in meeting with clients and contractors.
  • Check own PHE/Plumbing designs deliverables and able to check design prepared within own team and other groups within area of expertise.
  • Realistically estimate pricing associated with projects within their area of expertise.
  • Undertake liaison with System engineers, third parties and specialist system suppliers and incorporate their requirements in the detail design.
  • Coordinate with all other disciplines and improve inter-discipline working with other disciplines such as Architecture, Civil, MEP and Structural.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or civil engineering (or equivalent), with prior experience in plumbing / Fire protection design within a design consultancy environment.
  • Working towards Professional registration (P Eng, C Eng or IEng) or be able to prove progression towards Chartership.
  • Should be capable of handling Revit and Plumbing/FPS design concurrently, with demonstrated proficiency in hydraulic calculation software such as HydraCALC, SprinkCALC, HASS, and similar tools.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of Plumbing design calculations, including water supply, drainage, and pump sizing as per relevant codes and standards.
  • Relevant and appropriate experience of 7 to 10 years as a Plumbing and Fire engineer within building services.
  • Wider Knowledge on other disciplines is desirable.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of the use of BS codes, NFC, NPC, LEED, NFPA, FM global guidelines, CIBSE, UPC, IBC, IPC and IOP
  • Experience of working in Multi-D environment and good understanding of co-ordination and interfaces with other disciplines.
  • Experience of large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Be a competent user of IT tools in particular Word, Excel, Outlook and Industry design tools.
  • Authors technical reports of acceptable technical and presentational quality. Able to present their work on the project presentations and meetings.
  • Able to deliver work and integrate with larger project teams.
  • Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients is essential.
  • Proactive and Member of IOP, IET or CIBSE with PEng , CEng or IEng status or working towards would be preferred.
  • Relevant and appropriate experience as a designer within building services.
  • You will be a competent designer to BS, NFC, NPC, IPC, CIBSE and various NFPA standards.
  • You should have hands-on experience in preparing Revit 3D models, review Navisworks files and managing design delivery using BIM expertise.
  • Demonstrates the necessary level of competence and responsibility according to the grade.
  • You will manage productivity and quality of your deliverables.
  • Maintains harmony and a productive atmosphere by being open about the work activities and project status.
  • Good command of the English language and effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Knowledge of French is beneficial, and willingness to undertake French language training as per business requirements.
