The Billing Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate and timely billing for equipment rental, utilization, and related services. The role involves coordination with operations, site teams, and clients to ensure correct invoicing based on usage, contract terms, and supporting documents.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly rental bills based on equipment deployment and utilization
- Track equipment working hours / shifts / idle time for accurate billing
- Verify log sheets, trip sheets, and operator reports
- Ensure billing as per rental agreements, rate contracts, and client terms
- Generate invoices for:
- Equipment rental (daily / hourly / monthly basis)
- Mobilization & demobilization charges
- Fuel, operator, and maintenance charges (if applicable)
- Coordinate with operations & fleet team for equipment availability and usage data
- Handle breakdown, standby, and non-working claims as per contract terms
- Prepare and track client-wise outstanding statements
- Follow up with clients for invoice approvals and payments
- Maintain proper billing documentation and audit records
- Assist in rate revisions, contract variations, and additional claims
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of equipment rental billing cycles and contracts
- Knowledge of heavy equipment (excavators, cranes, loaders, etc.) utilization tracking
- Good command in MS Excel (advanced formulas, MIS reports)
- Familiarity with ERP systems / billing software
- Basic understanding of GST and invoicing compliance
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Good coordination and communication abilities
Qualifications
- Diploma / B.E / B.Tech (Mechanical / Civil) preferred
- 2–4 years of experience in construction equipment rental / infrastructure / project billing

- Accuracy of billing (zero/minimal errors)
- Timely invoice submission
- Reduction in billing disputes/rejections
- Equipment utilization vs billing efficiency
- Collection cycle time (DSO improvement)
