This position leads to the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. He/She is involved in full systems life cycle management (i.e., analyses, technical requirements, design, coding, testing, and implementation of systems and applications software) delivered on time and within budget. This position participates in component and data architecture design, technology planning, and testing for Applications Development (AD) initiatives to meet business requirements and ensure compliance. He/She develops and leads AD project plans and integrations and collaborates with teams and supports emerging technologies. This position is responsible for the work of others, resource allocations, and decision-making affecting the success of assigned projects (i.e., results, deadlines, and budget). He/She provides consultation, training, and subject matter expertise for applications development, maintenance, and support.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the maintenance, enhancement, and support of enterprise mainframe applications to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Lead and manage mainframe development and technology teams to deliver scalable, high-quality software solutions.
- Plan, prioritize, and execute multiple mainframe development and maintenance projects within defined timelines and budgets.
- Balance day-to-day operational support with long-term strategic initiatives to align with business objectives.
- Provide strong technical leadership in application architecture, design, development, and performance optimization.
- Review technical designs and code to ensure compliance with organizational standards and best practices.
- Mentor and guide team members in mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.
- Manage Level 3 (L3) production support, ensuring timely issue resolution and effective root-cause analysis.
- Drive mainframe modernization initiatives, including re-platforming, API enablement, and code refactoring.
- Collaborate with enterprise architects to integrate mainframe systems with distributed and cloud-based platforms.
