Solution Architect BigCommerce (B2B eCommerce) Experience Required: 12 years overall IT experience Specialization: BigCommerce, B2B commerce architecture, technical leadership Role Type: Architecture + Delivery Leadership Role Summary: We are looking for a Solution Architect with strong BigCommerce expertise to lead the architecture and technical delivery of a B2B eCommerce platform. This role combines hands-on technical depth, solution design, and leadership of a development team. The architect will define architecture, provide direction, eliminate technical roadblocks, and ensure high-quality delivery across the entire engineering team. Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Solution Design Lead end-to-end technical architecture for the BigCommerce B2B website. Design components covering storefront, integrations, pricing, catalog, user roles, and workflows. Prepare architecture diagrams, data flow models, integration designs, and API specifications. Define best practices for performance, scalability, and security. Drive headless commerce or Stencil-based architecture as needed.
- Platform Expertise Deep understanding of: BigCommerce platform & APIs (REST/GraphQL) BigCommerce B2B Edition (Company Accounts, POs, Roles, Custom Pricing, Quick Order Pad) Multi-storefront setup, channel configuration, catalogs, storefront search Guide theme development (Stencil framework) or front-end development (React/Next.js).
- Technical Leadership & Development Oversight Break down requirements into technical tasks and assign work to the development team. Provide hands-on guidance during development, troubleshooting, and design issues. Remove technical bottlenecks quickly and proactively. Conduct code reviews, ensure coding standards, and maintain architectural consistency. Collaborate closely with PM, BA, QA, UI/UX, and DevOps teams for smooth delivery.
- Integrations & Data Flows Lead integrations with ERP, OMS, CRM, PIM, payment gateways, shipping services. Work with middleware teams (Workato, Celigo, Boomi, MuleSoft) to define integration flows. Build specifications for data synchronization, webhooks, API endpoints, and custom services.
- Client & Stakeholder Interaction Participate in solution workshops with client technical teams. Translate business requirements into technical specifications and architectural decisions. Communicate architecture choices, trade-offs, and constraints clearly.
- Team Leadership Mentor developers and provide continuous technical coaching. Ensure smooth coordination between onshore and offshore teams. Lead daily technical discussions, clarify requirements, and support sprint execution. Required Skills & Experience Technical Must-Haves 12 years of IT experience with 5+ years in eCommerce architecture. Strong expertise in BigCommerce including: BigCommerce REST & GraphQL APIs BigCommerce B2B Edition features Stencil front-end framework Headless builds with React / Next.js Strong understanding of: Multi-storefront architecture SEO, analytics, merchandising tools Cloud hosting concepts and CI/CD pipelines (Git, Vercel, AWS/Azure) Architecture & Integration Experience designing and implementing integrations with: ERP systems OMS / PIM Payment gateways Shipping providers Strong understanding of SaaS commerce limitations and extensibility. Leadership Experience leading a development team (onshore/offshore). Ability to assign work, monitor execution, and maintain technical quality. Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills. Soft Skills Strong documentation and communication skills. Client-facing experience, comfortable leading discussions. Good to Have Experience with other eCommerce platforms (Shopify, Magento, SAP Commerce). Knowledge of search engines (Algolia, Klevu) and marketing automation tools.
