ROLE SUMMARY
We are seeking a Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst with proven experience building interactive dashboards and reports in both Power BI and Tableau. This role translates business questions into clear, actionable visualizations and self-service analytics products that drive data-informed decision-making across the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI and Tableau for business stakeholders across functions.
- Gather and translate business requirements into effective data visualizations and KPI frameworks.
- Develop and optimize data models (star schema, DAX measures in Power BI; calculated fields and LODs in Tableau) for performant reporting.
- Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, join, and aggregate data from enterprise data sources for reporting needs.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and proper governance across dashboards, including version control and documentation.
- Partner with data engineering teams to define reporting-layer data requirements and validate data quality.
- Conduct ad hoc analysis to answer specific business questions and support executive decision-making.
- Train and support business users in self-service BI tool usage and dashboard interpretation.
- Monitor dashboard usage and performance, iterating on design based on stakeholder feedback.
- Stay current on BI tool capabilities and recommend improvements to reporting standards and best practices.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 3+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or reporting roles.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience building production dashboards in both Power BI and Tableau.
- Strong skills in DAX (Power BI) and calculated fields/table calculations (Tableau).
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
- Solid understanding of data modeling concepts (star schema, fact/dimension tables) for BI consumption.
- Experience connecting BI tools to enterprise data sources (data warehouses, lakehouses, cloud databases).
- Strong data visualization and storytelling skills, with an eye for clear, accurate, and actionable design.
- Ability to gather requirements from non-technical stakeholders and translate them into technical specifications.
PREFERRED / NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS
- Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, or similar cloud data platforms as a BI data source.
- Familiarity with Python or R for advanced analytics.
- Experience with row-level security, dashboard governance, and enterprise BI deployment/administration.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis or forecasting techniques.
- Power BI or Tableau certifications a plus.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of relevant BI/analytics experience with a portfolio of dashboards built in both Power BI and Tableau.
