Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Backup Engineer L2 with strong expertise in Veeam Backup & Replication to manage enterprise backup operations, disaster recovery activities, replication processes, and backup infrastructure support.

The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience in backup administration, cloud backup integration, tape infrastructure management, and DR operations in enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

Backup Monitoring & Support

• Monitor daily backup, replication, and restore operations within SLA timelines.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex backup issues escalated from L1 support teams.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures to avoid recurring issues.
• Ensure backup jobs are completed successfully and maintain operational stability.

Backup & Recovery Operations

• Execute backup and restore operations including:
• Instant VM Recovery
• File-Level Restore
• Application-Aware Restore
• Perform granular recovery for:
• SQL
• Exchange
• Active Directory
• Oracle
• PostgreSQL
• SAP HANA
• NAS workloads

Veeam Administration

• Configure and manage:
• Backup Jobs
• Backup Copy Jobs
• Replication Jobs
• SureBackup / SureReplica
• Scale-Out Backup Repository (SOBR)
• Hardened Linux Repository
• Object Storage Integration
• Manage plugin-based backup and restore operations.
• Administer Veeam Agent for Windows and Linux along with Protection Groups.

Cluster & Tape Infrastructure Management

• Configure and troubleshoot:
• Windows Failover Clusters
• SQL Failover Cluster Instances (FCI)
• Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV)
• Manage Tape Infrastructure including:
• Tape Libraries & Tape Drives
• Media Pools
• GFS Retention Policies
• Tape Backup & Restore Operations

Cloud & Disaster Recovery Operations

• Configure and monitor cloud backups for:
• AWS
• Azure
• Microsoft 365
• Conduct DR drills, failover/failback testing, and backup validation activities.

Monitoring & Documentation

• Utilize Veeam ONE for:
• Monitoring
• Alerting
• Reporting
• Capacity Planning
• Maintain:
• SOP Documentation
• RCA Reports
• Backup Architecture Documents
• Operational Reports
• Follow ITIL-based Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes.

Candidate Profile

Qualification

• BS-IT / BCA / B.E / B.Tech / MCA or equivalent

Experience

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in Backup Administration with strong Veeam expertise.

• Flexible to support shift operations, weekend activities, and on-call support.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Good communication and documentation abilities.
