About The Role
We are looking for a backend engineer to build and maintain scalable backend services powering Onmeta's fiat on/off-ramp infrastructure. You will own specific modules end-to-end — from design to deployment — in a fast-moving fintech and Web3 product environment. This is a hands-on role with high ownership and no management layers.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain high-performance backend services in Go and/or TypeScript (Node.js)
- Design scalable APIs and data models for real-time fiat-to-crypto transaction flows
- Work with MongoDB and SQL databases (PostgreSQL or equivalent) at production scale
- Implement caching strategies using Redis or equivalent
- Develop event-driven systems using Kafka, SQS, or similar messaging technologies
- Own infrastructure on AWS — including deployment, monitoring, and reliability
- Improve system observability, performance, and scalability proactively
Must-Have Requirements
- Production-grade experience in Go or TypeScript (Node.js) — Rust is not required
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB (primary NoSQL store)
- Strong working knowledge of SQL/relational databases (PostgreSQL or equivalent)
- Practical AWS experience — the team runs exclusively on AWS
- Familiarity with caching fundamentals (Redis or equivalent)
- Experience owning features end-to-end in a production environment with no hand-holding
- Comfortable working in an early-stage startup (pre-Series B) with fast pace and high ambiguity
- Strong understanding of scalability — APIs and data models under real-world load
Good to Have
- Experience in fintech or payments domain (KYC flows, wallets, transaction processing)
- Familiarity with event-driven systems — Kafka, SQS, or similar
- Exposure to Docker and CI/CD pipelines
- Basic understanding of blockchain / Web3 fundamentals
- Strong DSA fundamentals (tested in Round 1 of interviews)
