We're hiring a Backend engineer to join our Core Product Team. You'll work alongside the Director of Product, AI engineers, and full-stack teammates to build the foundational systems that power AI voice agents at scale. Your work will directly enable multiple customer-facing pods to execute cleanly, while ensuring our systems are reliable, observable, and deployable across many environments You'll own core infrastructure — from CI/CD and observability to service orchestration and API integration. This role goes beyond shipping features: it's about architecting a backend foundation that enables us to scale across 100s of healthcare providers with minimal engineering overhead.This is a high-ownership role ideal for someone with 4+ years of experience who thrives in fast-paced environments and wants to w ork at the intersection of engineering, healthcare, and AI.
Key Responsibilities
- Backend & Application Engineering Design and build scalable, maintainable and fault tolerant backend services with 4 nines of availability. Implement clean REST and event-driven APIs supporting product features and AI workflows. Own backend logic for multi-tenant SaaS systems used by healthcare providers.
- Data & Integrations Design and work with relational and low-latency data stores to ensure correctness and performance. Build and maintain API-based or RPA-based integrations with external systems, including healthcare platforms, EHRs and telephony providers. Support backend workflows involving data ingestion from external sources and apply transformations at scale.
- AI-Aware Backend Development Integrate backend services with latest LLM-based APIs for conversational AI in healthcare. Support backend integration with Speech-to-Text (STT) and Text-to-Speech (TTS) systems. Work closely with AI engineers to productionize AI workflows with a focus on latency, reliability, observability and evals.
- Collaboration with Product & FDEs Work closely with FDEs to understand field learnings, customer issues and deployment challenges. Translate real-world feedback from customer environments into core backend and platform improvements. Collaborate with Product and FDEs to ensure smooth deployments across customers.
- Infra Awareness & Reliability Develop and run services in containerized environments on public/private clouds or on-prem systems. Collaborate with infrastructure teams on CI/CD workflows, deployments and environment management. Debug production issues, improve system robustness and participate in incident resolution when needed.
- Code Quality & Knowledge Sharing Maintain high standards for code quality, testing and documentation. Review logs, debug issues and proactively improve backend reliability. Document workflows, share learnings and support teammates with backend best practices.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience building backend systems in production environments.
- Strong proficiency in one or more of Golang, Java, Python and TypeScript.
- Experience with backend frameworks such as Gin or Fiber (Golang), Spring Boot or Vert.x (Java), Express or Next.js (Typescript), etc.
- Solid understanding of API design, data modeling and distributed systems architecture.
- Experience working with databases such as MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.
- Experience working with caching infrastructure such as Redis or Aerospike.
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, Azure or Oracle.
- Exposure to containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience integrating backend systems with LLM-based APIs and Speech AI systems.
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence (or Notion) to implement Agile methodology with all it's ceremonies.
Bonus
- Experience with healthcare systems, EHRs or API-based healthcare integrations.
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow, Temporal, Conductor, etc.
- Prior work involving automation, RPA bots or data ingestion from external sources.
