About the Role

We're looking for a backend developer to help build out our Node.js API layer. You'll be working on a new backend system while coordinating with our existing infrastructure. This role involves building new APIs, working with PostgreSQL, and helping us migrate from a legacy PHP system.

This is a remote position with flexible hours, but you'll need some overlap with US Eastern time for occasional calls.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain REST APIs in Node.js
• Work with PostgreSQL databases and write efficient queries
• Collaborate with frontend and mobile teams on API design
• Help migrate functionality from legacy PHP backend to Node.js
• Follow proper Git workflows with code reviews and CI/CD
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience with Node.js
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
• Understanding of REST API design principles
• Experience with Git, pull requests, and collaborative workflows
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong communication skills in English

Nice to Have

• Experience with PHP (helpful for understanding legacy system)
• Familiarity with database migrations and schema design
• Experience with authentication systems (JWT, OAuth)
• Knowledge of caching strategies (Redis)
• Experience with sports or fitness applications

Salary: 65,000 - 1,00,000 per month (based on experience)
