About the Role

Klantroef is hiring a Backend Developer to help design and build the core services that power our products. Youll own everything from datamodel design to highthroughput APIs, working in a small team that values clean code, measurable

performance, and rapid iteration.

Key Responsibilities

Architect & code scalable backend systems, APIs, and microservices.

Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and product teams to ship endtoend features.

Write reusable, testable, efficient code with a clear separation of concerns.

Optimise applications for low latency, high throughput, and cost efficiency.

Manage data stores (SQL & NoSQL), including schema design, migration, and tuning.

Implement security best practices (auth, encryption, OWASP10 hardening).

Review code & troubleshoot production issues, contributing to a blameless culture.

Continuously improve CI/CD workflows, observability, and overall system design.

Required Qualifications

0-3 years of professional backend experience.

Proficiency in Node.js, Python, Java, Go, or Ruby (pick at least one).

Production experience with RESTful APIs (bonus: GraphQL, WebSockets).

Solid grasp of SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and/or NoSQL (MongoDB/Redis).

Comfortable with Git, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and a major cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure).

Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, and software engineering best practices.

Clear written & verbal communication; ability to defend technical decisions.

Preferred Skills

Microservices & eventdriven architecture.

Message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWSSQS).

Automated testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, PyTest, JUnit, etc.).

Exposure to serverless patterns and API gateways.

Infrastructureascode (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi).
