Back End Developer

Job description

You'll join a small team building a new product component from scratch (greenfield). You'll pair with a senior NestJS engineer and a frontend developer, collaborating closely with the PO, QA, and Scrum Master. What you build will be used by tens of thousands of users daily, so security, availability, reliability, and cost-efficient operation are crucial. Based full-time in-office at our Koramangala, Bangalore office.

What You'll Do

● Discuss, review, and collaborate on requirements, solution design, and user stories

● Write clean, testable code following best engineering practices (YAGNI, KISS, SOLID, lean)

● Practise true test-driven (test-first) development; deliver ship-ready work without reliance on manual testing

● Build and run: provide L3 support for your component and help build the L1/L2 knowledge base

● Participate in agile ceremonies and team activities

● Leverage and improve our AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code)

What You Bring

● 6+ years as a TypeScript-native backend developer

● 3+ years using NestJS as your core, daily technology, with excellent grasp of NestJS concepts

● Proven experience in true test-first development

● Advanced proficiency using Claude Code

● Track record of having built, shipped, and supported NestJS apps in AWS

● Deep understanding of microservices, event-driven architectures, and platform thinking

● Experience in agile/lean startup environments balancing pragmatism and craft

● Bangalore-based, ready to work from Koramangala, able to start within 30 days

Bonus:

● NextJS frontend experience

● Infrastructure architecture high-level solution design

● IaC with Terraform.

Tech Stack: NestJS, NextJS, AWS (Fargate/ECS/ECR, SNS/SQS, Aurora/Postgres, S3, CloudFront, Service Connect, Kafka), ClickHouse, GraphQL, gRPC, Vitest, Terraform, Docker, CircleCI, Datadog, GitHub, Claude Code.

Location: In-office mostly at our WeWork Prestige Cube office in Koramangala, Bangalore. Relocation is welcome but you'll need to be within a short, reasonable commute of Koramangala of 30min or less during peak hour, or ready to move close soon. One honest constraint: we can't consider people who'd spend half their day in Bangalore traffic. We're not being precious about it we just refuse to let traffic quietly eat your brain an hour at a time.
