Job Description
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience with senior-level delivery ownership on production systems.
- Strong production experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Design and implement REST APIs, including query and resource design, pagination, filtering, versioning, error contracts, and backward compatibility.
- Implement token-based authentication and authorization in production using OIDC / JWT validation, claims-based authorization, and tenant- or row-level data access based on token claims.
- Build and deploy services hosted on Kubernetes, including container images, deployment manifests or Helm values, configuration and secrets, probes, and diagnosing failing pods. Cluster administration is not required.
- Working knowledge of both Azure and AWS as hosting environments.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, including pipelines, repositories, and boards, along with Git / GitHub pull-request workflows.
- Experience with distributed or microservice architectures.
- Strong SQL and relational database skills, including the ability to read and reason about existing stored-procedure logic and understand query performance.
- Production caching experience, including cache selection, placement, invalidation, and understanding where cached data drives access-control decisions.
- Ability to extend an unfamiliar production codebase and build to parity against an existing system.
- Ability to work directly with security, SRE, and data teams to resolve technical blockers.
- Experience working with distributed, multi-timezone teams with clear written English.
Desirable Skills
- Snowflake — query patterns, warehouse behaviour, and cost awareness.
- Payments or fintech, particularly settlement.
- PCI-DSS or comparable regulated environments.
- Analytical or semantic query interfaces such as Cube.dev, GraphQL, or similar.
- Sufficient Java knowledge to read the incumbent reporting service.
