Aon is looking for a Lead Business Systems Analyst

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions based at the Aon STG Bengaluru Center of Excellence

AON IS IN THE BUSINESS OF BETTER DECISIONS

At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world.

As an organization, we are committed as one firm to our purpose, united through trust as one inclusive, diverse team and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.

General Description Of Role

Life Solutions at Aon provides high-productivity computing software, consulting services, and advisory services to financial intermediaries, primarily insurance companies. Life Solutions high-performance software platform, PathWise, provides companies with the ability to easily model financial obligations without the need for complex coding and is run on Graphical Processing Units (GPU), making it the fastest, readily available software platform currently in use in the insurance industry.

Your Impact as a Lead Business Systems Analyst

Unlike a traditional Business Analyst, this Lead BSA role is deeply technical and firmly embedded within the software development team. You will serve as the critical translation layer between highly specialized quantitative domains, such as actuarial science and financial engineering, and the technical architecture of the PathWise platform. You will analyze complex mathematical requirements and design system logic, data pipelines, and computational workflows that leverage High-Performance Computing (HPC) and GPU acceleration.

Job Responsibilities

  • Technical Requirement Engineering: Lead JAD (Joint Application Design) sessions and technical workshops with actuaries, and software architects to define system behaviors for advanced actuarial and financial modeling.
  • System Design & Translation: Convert complex business logic, mathematical formulas, and actuarial data requirements into precise technical specifications, API definitions, data models, and system architecture blueprints for the development team.
  • Embedded Agile Leadership: Act as the functional and technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) within Agile development squads. Work side-by-side with engineers to ensure they completely understand the technical nuances, algorithmic requirements, and performance expectations of the models.
  • Agile Backlog & Task Management: Act as a power user of Jira (or similar Agile lifecycle tools) to structure complex technical epics, manage sprint boards, and write highly detailed technical user stories. Track granular development tasks, including performance benchmarking and optimization initiatives.
  • Technical Documentation & Knowledge Base: Create and maintain a centralized repository of critical technical documentation in Confluence. Develop Functional Specification Documents (FSDs), system flowcharts, database schemas, and state-transition diagrams using tools like Visio, Lucidchart, Draw.io, or Figma.
  • Systems Analysis & Optimization: Perform deep-dive technical gap analysis between actuarial requirements and current system capabilities. Analyze current-state processes to optimize data structures and computational workflows for GPU-accelerated execution.
  • Advanced Quality Assurance: Partner directly with the QA team to develop rigorous technical test strategies. Validate algorithmic accuracy, verify complex financial calculations, and support performance benchmarking.

Skills/Competencies Required

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of demonstratable experience as a Technical Business Systems Analyst, Systems Engineer, or Product Owner, strictly within the software development space (preferably in quantitative finance, insurance, or capital markets).
  • Agile & SDLC Tool Mastery: Deep, hands-on expertise with the modern software development ecosystem, specifically Jira (advanced JQL, workflows, epic management) and Confluence (macros, technical structuring).
  • Technical Platform Proficiency: Experience with API documentation and testing tools (e.g., Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI) and version control concepts (e.g., Git, SVN, GitHub) to effectively review and communicate technical specifications alongside developers.
  • Deep Actuarial/Quant Knowledge: Direct experience working with complex financial concepts (e.g., reserves, valuation, pricing, stochastic calculus, or CVA) is a significant advantage.
  • Technical Fluency: Ability to read, understand, and analyze code. Hands-on experience with scripting languages (specifically Python) to effectively communicate with developers is a big plus.
  • HPC & Architecture: Experience working with High-Performance Computing, GPU-based architecture, or complex cloud deployments (AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with actuarial or financial software such as AXIS, Prophet, RiskAgility, or PolySystems is a strong plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between actuarial concepts.
