Role Description
The Lead Data Engineer designs, builds, and evolves scalable data solutions to support enterprise reporting, advanced analytics, and AI workloads. This role provides technical leadership across data architecture, engineering, delivery, and operations, while closely partnering with business stakeholders to translate requirements into high‑impact data solutions. The position focuses on execution excellence, innovation, continuous improvement, and mentoring team members while driving best practices across the data and analytics ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with business to understand problems, shape requirements, and define data solutions with clear outcomes.
- Lead and mentor the data engineering team, driving engineering best practices and delivery excellence.
- Provide technical leadership across architecture, development, troubleshooting, and delivery to drive execution speed and quality.
- Collaborate with Data Architects, Data Scientists, and Product Owners to enable business adoption of AI and advanced analytics driven decision making.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement by challenging existing processes and proposing new solutions.
- Maintain and evolve the data platform for business reporting and AI workloads.
- Partner with Data Product Owners to define clear technical designs and execution plans aligned with business outcomes.
- Design and maintain scalable data ingestion frameworks supporting both batch and streaming use cases.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree in technology or engineering is required.
- 10-13 years of overall experience in Data & Analytics, including 5+ years of hands-on experience with Azure data engineering technologies.
- 3+ years of experience in leading data engineering teams or working in similar technical lead roles.
- Strong experience in designing scalable, secure data solutions and building AI-ready data platforms.
Skill Requirements
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF), Databricks, PySpark & SQL.
- Strong understanding of Databricks Unity Catalog for data governance and security, along with CI/CD using DevOps.
- Proven experience in designing secure, scalable, and AI‑ready data solutions.
- Ability to collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver high‑impact data solutions.
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and execution discipline across multiple initiatives.
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle high-impact business stakeholder interactions effectively.
- Analytical thinking and judgment to evaluate complex problems and make sound architectural decisions considering scalability, security, and business impact.

- Stakeholder Collaboration - Effectively partner with Business, Architecture, Data science, and Product teams to translate requirements into impactful data solutions.
- Relevant certifications in Azure, Databricks, Data Engineering, AI, or Data Governance are preferred.
