Senior Azure Database Specialist Job Description
- Strong expertise in:
- Azure SQL Database & Managed Instance
- Azure Cosmos DB
- Azure Database for PostgreSQL/MySQL/MariaDB
- Data migration tools (Azure Data Factory, Database Migration Service)
- Solid understanding of cloud networking, storage, and security concepts.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools (PowerShell, Terraform, ARM templates).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

The Azure Database Engineer will have below key responsibilities:
Database Administration & Operations
- Manage and administer Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB.
- Oversee NoSQL workloads such as Azure Cosmos DB and Azure Table Storage.
- Handle database deployments, upgrades, patching, and migrations.
Performance & Optimization
- Monitor and tune database performance, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
- Implement proactive capacity planning and scaling for high availability and disaster recovery.
Security & Compliance
- Enforce database security best practices including encryption, RBAC, and auditing.
- Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards (GDPR, HIPAA, ISO).
Automation & DevOps
- Develop scripts and automation for backup, monitoring, and provisioning using PowerShell, ARM templates, and Terraform.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
Incident Management & Support
- Troubleshoot complex database issues in production environments.
- Provide on-call support for critical incidents and ensure SLA adherence.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely with cloud architects, application developers, and infrastructure engineers.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing.
