About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Azure Data Platform Engineer to design, build, optimize, and manage scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud data platforms.
In this role, you will play a key part in shaping our organization's data-driven journey by building robust data solutions, improving platform performance, enabling analytics, and collaborating closely with Data Science, Data Analytics, Business, and DevOps teams.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Apache Spark, data engineering, cloud infrastructure, security, and DevOps, along with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and reliable Azure-based data platforms integrating multiple data sources and business systems.
- Build, automate, and optimize end-to-end data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse.
- Improve pipeline performance, with a target of achieving at least 20% reduction in execution time.
- Manage Azure data infrastructure with a focus on high availability, disaster recovery, reliability, and cost optimization.
- Optimize data storage, processing, and retrieval for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Work with Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL Database, Databricks, Synapse, and related Azure services.
- Collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Business Stakeholders, and DevOps teams to translate business requirements into effective data solutions.
- Implement data governance, data quality, security, access controls, encryption, observability, and compliance practices.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data platform performance and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
- Automate deployment, configuration, monitoring, and operational processes using Azure DevOps, PowerShell, and related tools.
- Evaluate emerging Azure technologies and recommend solutions that improve platform capabilities.
- Create and maintain technical designs, architecture documentation, operational procedures, and engineering guidelines.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
- 6–10 years of experience in Platform Engineering, Data Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or Data Platform Administration.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data services and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with Apache Spark, Hadoop, or similar big-data technologies.
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure management and provisioning.
- Knowledge of network security concepts including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and secure cloud networking.
- Strong understanding of data security concepts including access control, encryption, observability, privacy, and compliance.
- Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD automation.
- Strong understanding of data governance and data quality management.
- Experience working in a Retail environment is preferred.
- Exposure to Power BI, Qlik, Logic Apps, Data API Builder, or similar analytics/integration technologies is an advantage.
- Experience with A/B testing and experimentation is a plus.
