Roles & Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Data Operations

  • Own and manage end-to-end data operations, including data pipelines, data integration, data quality, and data processing efficiency across large-scale platforms.
  • Lead development, support, and optimization of Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, ADLS, Synapse Data Warehouse, Azure Cosmos DB, and Microsoft Fabric workspaces.
  • Provide technical leadership for high-volume, mission-critical applications, including messaging and event-driven architectures.
  • Design and oversee distributed data and event collection architectures, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Drive automation, monitoring, intelligent alerting, and self-healing solutions to improve platform resilience and operational efficiency.
  • Manage and optimize cloud and infrastructure components supporting data operations, including servers, databases, containers, and cloud services.
  • Ensure effective use of container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes) within data and platform ecosystems.
  • Evaluate systems periodically and recommend architectural improvements aligned with business and technology goals.

Operations, Governance & Incident Management

  • Lead shift-based support teams, ensuring 24x7 operational coverage and SLA adherence.
  • Own incident, escalation, and problem management, taking full accountability for resolution and logical closure of critical issues.
  • Establish and enforce operational governance, standards, and best practices.
  • Apply ITIL frameworks and leverage ITSM tools to manage incidents, changes, and service delivery.
  • Strategize and oversee day-to-day operations, capacity planning, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Champion operational excellence, reliability, and service quality across platforms.

People, Stakeholder & Consulting Leadership

  • Manage, mentor, and motivate high-performance engineering and operations teams.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a trusted consulting partner to business and technology stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to executive, business, and technical audiences.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver outcomes amidst changing priorities.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and manage expectations in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

Requirements / Qualifications

Experience

  • 12+ years of experience in software development, technical operations, and running large-scale applications.
  • 5+ years of people management experience, including leading senior engineers and operations teams.
  • 5+ years of experience managing shift-based (24x7) support teams.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in developing or supporting:
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Azure Databricks
  • Azure DevOps
  • Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
  • Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Azure Cosmos DB
  • Microsoft Fabric
  • AI/ML, Power BI, Big Data platforms
  • Hands-on experience with high-volume, mission-critical systems and event-driven architectures.
  • Solid understanding of Docker and Kubernetes in enterprise environments.
  • Experience with data virtualization tools (Denodo) is a strong plus.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong expertise in data platform operations, reliability engineering, and automation.
  • Proven ability to design and implement monitoring, alerting, and self-healing systems.
  • Deep understanding of ITIL framework and exposure to leading ITSM tools.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and consulting capabilities.
  • Ability to lead teams and deliver results in complex, distributed, and fast-changing environments.
  • Passion for operational excellence, governance, and continuous improvement.
