Role Description
As an Azure Data Engineer Lead, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform. This full-time, on-site role is based in Chennai and involves leading the end-to-end data lifecycle, including ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption. You will work closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, and developers to understand data requirements, define data models, and implement secure, high-performance data pipelines. Daily activities include architecting and optimizing Azure data services, overseeing ETL workflows, monitoring data quality, and troubleshooting performance issues. You will mentor team members, establish best practices for data engineering, and contribute to solution design, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Profile Requirements
- Strong data engineering skills, including designing and implementing robust, scalable data pipelines and solutions.
- Proficiency in data modeling and data warehousing concepts, including dimensional modeling and schema design.
- Hands-on experience with Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes, tools, and frameworks for batch and near real-time data integration.
- Ability to apply data analytics concepts to support reporting, dashboards, and insight generation for business stakeholders.
- Deep expertise with Microsoft Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL).
- Strong SQL skills and familiarity with one or more programming languages commonly used in data engineering (such as Python or Scala).
- Experience leading or mentoring data engineering teams, setting technical standards, and reviewing solution designs.
- Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance, including access controls, data privacy, and documentation best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
