Roles and Responsibilities
1. Cloud Infrastructure & Service Management
- Web & AI Services: Deploy, configure, and maintain Azure App Services and Azure Bot Services, ensuring high availability and seamless scaling.
- Traffic & Security: Architect and manage edge security using Azure Front Door (AFD) and Web Application Firewall (WAF) to protect against DDoS attacks and OWASP vulnerabilities.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automate the provisioning of resources using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates to ensure environment consistency.
2. Financial Operations (FinOps) & Optimization
- Billing Oversight: Monitor and analyze Azure billing cycles, identifying trends and anomalies in cloud spend.
- Resource Optimization: Implement cost-saving initiatives such as Reserved Instances (RIs), automated shut-down schedules, and rightsizing underutilized resources.
- Reporting: Create monthly cloud consumption reports and provide actionable insights to leadership.
3. M365 Administration & Governance
- Tenant Management: Oversee the M365 admin center, managing user identities, licensing, and global settings.
- Security & Compliance: Configure Exchange Online protection, SharePoint permissions, and OneDrive policies.
- Integration: Ensure smooth synchronization between On-Premise AD (if applicable) and Azure AD (Entra ID) for M365 access.
4. Security & Performance Monitoring
- Perimeter Defense: Fine-tune WAF policies and AFD routing rules to optimize global content delivery and security.
- Observability: Utilize Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights to track the health of Bot Services and App Services.
- Patching & Updates: Maintain the security lifecycle of all cloud resources and integrated M365 applications.
5. CI/CD & Automation
- Pipeline Development: Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) for automated code deployment to App Services.
- Process Automation: Use PowerShell or Azure CLI to automate repetitive M365 and Azure administrative tasks.
6. Networking
- Virtual Networking: Design and manage Virtual Networks (VNETs), including subnets, peering, and Network Security Groups (NSGs) to enforce micro-segmentation.
- Private Connectivity: Implement Private Links and Private Endpoints for App Services, Bot Services, and Databases to ensure traffic remains within the Microsoft backbone and off the public internet.
- DNS & Traffic Management: Manage Azure Private DNS zones and public DNS records; optimize global traffic distribution using Azure Traffic Manager alongside Front Door.
