Job Description

We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud FinOps Analyst to optimize cloud spending, improve financial governance, and enhance cost transparency across our AWS environments. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of AWS pricing and billing, and the ability to partner with engineering and finance teams to drive cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

AWS Cost Optimization & Analysis

  • Monitor and analyse AWS spending across accounts, services, and business units.
  • Identify cost optimization opportunities such as rightsizing, Storage class optimization, Reserved Instances/Savings Plans purchasing, and waste reduction.
  • Evaluate usage of key AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS, CloudFront, etc.) to identify cost drivers and optimization levers.
  • Provide actionable recommendations to engineering teams and track implementation.

FinOps Governance & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain AWS cost dashboards using tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Billing Console, AWS Budgets, CUR (Cost & Usage Reports), and third-party FinOps platforms.
  • Manage AWS cost allocation, chargeback/show back models, and tagging compliance.
  • Drive monthly/quarterly cloud cost reviews with engineering, product, and finance leaders.
  • Develop cloud budget forecasts and variance analysis reports.

Data, Automation & Tooling

  • Work with AWS CUR data to build custom reports, queries, and dashboards.
  • Automate recurring cost analysis tasks using Python, SQL, or AWS services (e.g., Athena, Glue, Lambda).
  • Integrate cost and usage data with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, QuickSight).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Procurement, and Finance teams on AWS cost management initiatives.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on AWS cost best practices, offering guidance on architectural design for cost efficiency.
  • Participate in AWS purchasing cycles and renewal discussions, including Savings Plans and Enterprise Discount Programs.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of AWS pricing models, billing constructs, and discount options (Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, Spot, EDP).
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cost tools:
  • AWS Cost Explorer
  • AWS Budgets
  • AWS Cost & Usage Reports (CUR)
  • AWS Billing Console
  • Experience with cost management platforms such as CloudHealth, Cloudability (Apptio), Flexera, or Harness.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with BI tools (Power BI, QuickSight, or Tableau).
  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to translate cost insights into recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • AWS Step Functions state machine configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Amazon SES event-driven inbound mail processing.
  • AWS Lambda event mappings and serverless integrations.
  • Dead Letter Queue (DLQ) testing and monitoring.
  • Schema drift validation and remediation.
  • API retry mechanism hardening and operational support.
  • Knowledge transfer and L3 production support activities.
